Neighbourhoods

Noosa has 3 main areas for eating out and shopping. These are Noosa Junction, Gympie Terrace, and of course Hastings street. I have to say as a local, we tend to steer more towards the junction and Gympie Terrace as it has a low key vibe, parking is easier, and the restaurants are a bit cheaper and less corporate.

Right on the Noosa River, this is the place to rent boats of all sizes and shapes, (with O-boat rentals, U-boat rentals, T-boat rentals) They have pontoons, tinnies, ski boats so you can go out for a cruise, throw some fishing lines in the water, and BBQ on your pontoon with the kids. Or you can go on a cruise on the river with the Noosa ferry and travel from the ocean and Hastings street up to Tewantin….or book a party night with tropical house music and catered food onboard with the Catalina Noosa Gympie Terrace is fabulous for a morning run or walk with coffee and brekky. Hire a bike at Bike on and cruise the leisurely flat bike paths along the river, hit the Pirate’s park playground, or take in a game of tennis on the numerous river side courts, you can also enjoy sunset from the Noosa Boat house with live music on Sunday afternoons on the lawns in front of the boat house (picnic style) usually around 4pm. There are multiple cabanas with shaded seating, picnic tables, community BBQs for use along the river and many locals and families spend weekends hanging out on the river or taking a swim, kayak, SUP, or fishing adventure. The restaurants are plentiful and high caliber, but still mostly local, non-corporate.

The iconic road of endless restaurants, cafes, high end shops, local souvenirs stands. Lively raucous environment, with occasional impromptu live music in the streets during the holidays. Over Christmas holidays, usually around the 17th Dec., they do a Christmas festival with mimes, street performers, live dance, and music. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare. During school holidays and summer holidays Noosa Council has a free jump on/off, bus service around Noosa. It stops all all the major areas and beaches. Can really help for this area of Noosa. Beaches abound here and during summer the beaches look like Miami with the beach a vibrant festival of colour with the local Noosa Cool Cabanas set up all over the beach. The restaurants are chokkers and all high end. There have been a major transition of these restaurants during covid due to high real estate prices.

Favourite Pizza

awesome woodfired sourdough crust with fresh local and organic ingredients. They have small cozy restaurants and some outside seating but reservations are a must, preferably a couple of days in advance. They also do take away and most weekends delivery. Unique and tasty cocktails as well. Nathan the owner is an awesome guy, world traveller, and a tri-athlete.

This is a super cool hole in the wall that features local restaurants on a rotating schedule. Often have an American burger night, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Sundays a rotating food truck style menu that differs every week. They also have brekky and excellent coffee every day. This is our favourite selection of craft beers, especially Hazy IPAs in town.

The list could go on forever. We love the junction as it is more local mom and pop style restaurants. There is a massive parking lot up behind the cinemas with easy car parking pretty much year round. Very different from Hastings street. A few more honourable mentions: Paradisise Arcade Mexican on Arcadia alley, Theos bar, Jungle and Co health food and gut health bar….
