It's a 5 minute walk from the house to the beach which is the entrance to the harbour where all these places can be seen. Be wary of swimming here as the the tide is strong. There are numerous walks, cycle tracks, pubs, coffee shops dotted around.

Cycling
It's possible to cycle all the way down the sea front with only a short section of road to the Ferryboat inn and the Hayling Ferry, which takes you across to Southsea and then onto Portsmouth. Or go up the Billy trail(old railway line to Havant)

Hayling Ferry
A short trip from the other end of the Island to Southsea and then Portsmouth. A 10 min drive, then by foot or take a bike. There is a bus connection from the other side.

Buses
Buses run regularly, every 15 mins, around the Island up to Havant and train station. A bus stop is a short 2 minute walk from house.

Shopping
The main shops are either in Mengham, 5 minute drive, eg Sainsbury's, Co op, independent butchers, fruit mongers, post office etc or West town, 10 mins drive, with Tesco Express, butchers, Andy Biggs surf shop.
Locally there are a couple of convenience stores. There is also a Lidl in Mengham and Hayling Hardware is always worth a visit for old fashioned customer service.

There are plenty of takeaways / eat in restaurants, from fish & chips, Chinese, Indian, Thai. The Dolphin fish bar is the closest and always good but only takes cash.
