This place is free and children and adults alike can learn how the charity was established and expanded whilst petting and admiring the donkeys. One of the wealthiest charities and you can add to its wealth in the gift shop!!. Has a reasonably priced cafeteria and good lavatories....

Wrap up with a warm top as it is chilly in the caves; the guides have learnt a spiel off by heart and it can be a little long for young ones. Interesting though and goes back to Roman origins. Stone was used for the Houses of Parliament.

Take water and wear sturdy shoes if it has been damp. Stupendous views across the glacial valley of the river Axe. Several routes to choose and there is a little bench to rest or picnic on when walking on the northern side facing Kilmington in the distance.

Walk (check tide tables) from West Beach Lyme Regis to Charmouth and fossil hunt as you go. Best time is as the tide is going out as little ferrous ammonites are often found along the shore line. When you reach Charmouth check out the Heritage Centre - full of information about the Jurassic Coast.

Get there earlier enough to get an upper deck seat and wear a jacket and hat! Admire the wetlands and the estuary with diverse birds and flora. Stop off in Colyton and walk around the town dating from medieval times - interesting church.

Because it is called Combpyne Square and it is a triangle. Due to sense of humour of Chair of Parish Council many years ago being asked for the name for signage by the County. Similarly the Village Pond is called Combpyne Harbour.

Walking from Combpyne to Lyme Regis take the scenic route via Shapwick (mentioned in the Domesday Book) and then just before the viaduct take the public foothpaths through Uplyme and into Lyme. Bus (if it is still operating) back. The Cannington Viaduct was reputed to have been sold for one pound when the disused branch line railway was sold off. Some landowners it appears were even paid to absorb the old railway into their land.
