Sightseeing

Tam A Lau trail provides extensive views of the Deschutes and Crooked River valleys. The trail starts with a steep uphill climb for the first mile or so and then leads to a flat 4.5 mile loop on the top of the plateau. On a clear day, the views from the top are stunning! Tam A Lau is a native phrase meaning “big rocks on the ground” so be sure to check out the rock formations as you ascend. It can get hot at the top so go early or plan to pack in lots of water! The trail is dog friendly but be sure to keep them on a leash. Easy parking across the street.

Lake Billy Chinook is why we are here! Soaring canyon walls, endless coves, water sports for days! Tie your boat up in a cove and chill for a few hours or speed around the lake enjoying a variety of towed water sports. Head down to the Deschutes arm to see the dam or down the Metolius arm to check out the campgrounds and floating homes.
