Beach

This spot invites you to relax and meditate since it is not as busy as Playa Azul and you will witness wildlife unfold (pelicans and other birds diving/fishing, little fishes swimming around, among many other nature beauties). Located just steps from street parking. Beach chair in the water, favorite beverage in hand, a speaker with music (if needed, distant ocean surf sound plus birds chiming in the background are priceless as well), and enjoy nature at its best. Bring mosquito repellent because after 16:00 hrs they clock in as well as little biting bugs (the only "con" of this spot). You could walk along the shore to El Balneario La Monserrate (a beautiful easy hike), or go the other direction towards Playa Azul (where the three apartment buildings are located).

Hikes

La Zanja is an amazing secluded spot, easy to get to, that will leave you speechless (as it has left me every time I go there). Best if going with a local or someone who has been there before. It takes me an hour to hike to la Zanja. The first 40 mins are along the shore. Wear shoes that can get wet because there is a part of the hike that is overgrown by the mangroves and you have to walk in the water. Then a trail (towards inland) will lead you to a rock beach, where you have to walk towards the hill on the left side when facing the sea. Hike over the hill (you can use any map-app to locate yourself with respect to la Zanja). Walk carefully, sharp rocks, and loose ground can be found. My recommendation is to get there relatively early in the morning (around 09:00 hrs, it's when the water looks even better). Pack light, but bring plenty of water/snacks, and clean after yourself. Beware of sea urchins on the rock walls (in La Zanja) and do not pick any of the starfish nor get them out of the water. Enjoy!

Mesmerizing beach with Luquillo and El Yunque (National Rainforest) in the background. It takes me 45 mins from the Seven Seas parking lot to the beach. Easy hike, best if going with a local or someone who has been there before. Be smart and cautious with the water, do not get in if the water is choppy, this beach has crazy currents every once in a while. Only get in if the water is like a pool (calm). Playa Colorá is a "no-no" for swimming, at any time. Pack light, bring plenty of water/snacks, and clean after yourself.
