Drømmecafeen (The Dream Cafe) is a great little spot in Dronningmølle with coffee, drinks, sandwiches etc. The same owner operates the adjoining Drømmehuset (The Dream House) which sells original and beautiful items for the home, as well as books, plants and other stuff. It's definitely worth a look and only a 15 minute walk from the summer house.

This lunch and dinner restaurant probably has the best views on the coast! It's situated on a hilltop with panoramic views of the ocean all the way to Sweden! And the prices are affordable too. We go here for lunch on sunny days.

A cozy fishing town approx 7 km away with a shopping street, and good restaurants. There are a couple of good fish shops as well as good fish n chips restaurant at the harbour. Check out the cool Danish fishing boats.

From Helsingør you can buy a ticket for the ferry over to Helsingborg in Sweden (20 min.). Ferries run back and forth most of the day.

One of the bigger local towns only 30 minutes by car. Good shopping, eating, and strolling. Here you'll find Hamlet's Castle, and a popular open space in the town center with outdoor restaurants. From Helsingør you can buy a ticket for the ferry over to Helsingborg in Sweden (20 min.). Ferries run back and forth most of the day.
Another of the larger towns about a 30 minute drive. There's a pleasant walking street with shops and restaurants. And in the heart of the city you'll be able to take a tour of "Frederiksborg Slot" - one of the spectacular castles in the area.

Go to Fredensborg to see one of Queen Margrethe's favourite castles, where she celebrates Christmas each year and entertains foreign heads of state. Fredensborg is about a 20 minute drive.

This is one of our favourite little towns about a 30 minute drive along the coast to the west. We enjoy the drive as much as we do the actual town. When you arrive you'll find a few one-of-a-kind shops as well as cozy cafés for coffee or lunch. It's makes for a good morning or afternoon trip. BTW there's great hiking in this area too (Google "Tisvildeleje Hegn" ).
Even further along the coast to the west you'll find yet another coastal town. Hundested has a cozy harbour with small boutiques, shops and eats. From here you could take a ferry over to the summer town of Rørvig, have a bite to eat and come back again. A good trip on a warm day.

What's not to like about a day trip to Copenhagen with all it has to offer? You can drive there (55 minutes), or take the train from Dronningmølle Station (90 minutes - see "Trains").

Sightseeing
You can walk or drive to Tegner's Museum - an outdoor walking park containing some fascinating statues. A great way to spend an afternoon and take a nice walk.

A lighthouse open to the public located very close by (4-5 km) with great views of the ocean and the town of Gilleleje. There's a beautiful coastal trail you can walk along to and from Gilleleje (check your gps).

Tivoli has so much history and so much to offer - beautiful gardens, restaurants, rides and entertainment in evenings. Check their website for more info. Tivoli is a great day trip from the summer house - a must see if you haven't been!

Trains
Dronningmølle train station is only a 7 minute walk from the summer house. You can travel east to Helsingør or west to Gilleleje. Copenhagen is about 90 minutes - you take the train from Dronningmølle to "Gilleleje", and then onward to "Hillerød" where you change to the S-train to "København" (Copenhagen). It's quite easy, but remember to buy a ticket on the "DOT app" before you get on the train.
