The Burton Hotel in Kington does reasonably priced "pub food", which is pretty good – we like it because although it's not haute cuisine, it has a varied menu, it’s unfussy and done very well. It has plenty of covers but booking at the weekend, when it tends to get full quickly, is advised.

The Cattle Shed at Penrhos Court, Lyonshall near Kington has a very good reputation and you will almost certainly need to book. (We eat there from time to time and it gets the thumbs up from us.)
