I love that this was once a grocery, they kept the name and opened a restaurant that serves coffee in the AM and delicious meals in the evening with great wine

Patty and her husband have run this wine/spirits store for decades. The floors are creaky wood, the wines are amazing, the window decor is unparalleled and the folks working there are brilliant. Tell them what you're cooking, they'll show you the perfect wine!!

Everything you could ever want in BREAD!!!! Any kind of bread. They also make fantastic take-away sandwiches, salads, and snacks. There is outdoor seating, but take your sandwich and walk 2 blocks to Prospect Park and have a seat. The loaves of sourdough and multigrain sourdough are my fav!!

This is the place to get great baked goods, prepared meals, organic produce, and all the basics. A little pricey, but worth it.

Sightseeing

This is a block that will lead right to Prospect Park, with multiple entrances. The best way in from my house, is at Bartell Square (which is really a circle). Before you get there, you'll pass great small groceries, bars and restaurants. The nighthawk movie theater is across the street from the Park entrance.

This is a lovely walk through the park away. The special exhibits are always worthwhile, but the standing long term exhibits are fantastic as well. Especially on the bottom floor.

This is next door to the Brooklyn Museum. There are two entrances, and a fee to get in. But the stroll through the rose garden, the cherry esplanade and the Japanese gardens are fantastic. The Bonsai house has re-opened and is amazing. The food is good as well.

Neighborhoods

From our front door, turn left, at the end of the block, turn right. All the bars, restaurants, great shops, and amazing people watching. Sit outside at Coleur, enjoy a great coffee /croissant or a delicious lunch. Then get shopping!!

So Park Slope is famous for its glorious brownstones. Walk along 7th Ave and as the street numbers go down, you can turn up or down any of the streets from 10th street all the way to Flatbush ave.

Farmers Markets

On Wednesday during the summer, there is a smaller farmers market at the Bartell entrance to Prospect Park. Fish, breads, and lots of organic produce. Usually a band playing as well. On Saturday, at Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park, there is a huge Farmers Market. This is about a mile walk through the park from my house. So you might want to either Citibike or Uber home with your purchases.

The F and G train are the closest --1 1/2 blocks away

Check the MTA website for travel advice, help in planning your route, and changes that might affect your travel. The G train is best for Brooklyn travel....The F train will connect at Jay St./Boro hall to the A/C train that will zoom you up the west side. Stay on the F to go through the middle of manhattan, and eventually to the east side and out to Queens.
