City/town information

Established in 1864 as a mining camp in the northern Rocky Mountains on the Continental Divide, Butte experienced rapid development in the late-nineteenth century, and was Montana's first major industrial city. In its heyday between the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, it was one of the largest copper boomtowns in the American West. Employment opportunities in the mines attracted surges of Asian and European immigrants, particularly the Irish; as of 2017, Butte has the largest population of Irish Americans per capita of any city in the United States.

Not the rubber stamp town most folks associate with Montana, Anaconda sprung from a melting pot of immigrants chasing the American dream. Hard work and ingenuity of laborers, craftsmen and business tycoons, coupled with southwestern Montana’s vast natural resources, impelled the Anaconda Copper Mining Company and the small but sophisticated town that arose with it, to a position of world’s largest supplier of copper, just as electricity came into common use.

Slainte, is pronounced SLAHN-chǝ with a silent “t” and is the Gaelic word for health and a common form of “cheers” in Ireland. We named our pub Slainte! Butte America Pub to give an Irish cheers to our beloved city. We want our pub to be inviting and lively with our core concept all about craft. When we say craft, we mean in one word – quality. Our goal is to not only have a quality atmosphere and setting, but to have craft beer, craft cocktails, and craft food. We have 36 taps of rotating craft beers and two types of wine on tap. We have a variety of craft packaged beers that you can enjoy in the pub or take with you. Bring in your own growler, or grab one of two sizes from us and take your favorite tap beer with you! We feature a wide array of classic cocktails as well as our seasonal cocktails, always complete with a featured Harry Potter inspired cocktail. We have a select wine list with plans to expand it and our food menu soon, so stay tuned! We frequently have events and live music, so please, explore the site to learn more!

Upscale, family-owned bar/eatery since 1946 with an old-timey atmosphere & Italian-American recipes. Butte's only remaining traditional Meaderville-style supper club! Beginning her restaurant career at age 13 in Butte's Italian-American neighborhood of Meaderville, Lydia Micheletti opened Lydia's near its current location in 1946. It was then that Lydia started combining her experiences from working in Meaderville's world-famous supper clubs with the Italian recipes that she had learned from her Italian-Immigrant mother. As the leader, Lydia worked tirelessly every day of the week preparing Meaderville-style Italian-American dinners, making her famous homemade raviolis, and mixing her signature "Roquefort-Style Salad Dressing" and "Sweet Potato Salad."
