Getting Outside

You can start walking, running or biking the Fort to Fort trail by heading towards Glover Road (the main road through Fort Langley) on Billy Brown, then turn left after you pass the condo buildings, before you reach the Fort Pub. Wander down the short path then turn left to get on the trail. You know you are on the right path if you shortly pass a pirate ship playground. You can go all the way to Derby's Reach on this trail! Once you feel you are half way on your adventure, turn around and head back. The trail is mostly gravel with some paved patches. I highly recommend going as far as the meadows that are just past the section that is beside the road. Enjoy the meadow all the way to the bluff by the old barn. About a 30 minute fast walk.

Brae Island has a beautiful 1 hour walking loop from my front door. This is my favourite walk in the area as half way you end at the point of the island with a view of Golden Ears Mountain straight ahead and Mount Baker back to the right...on clear days of course! To get to this trail, head back towards town on Billy Brown Road. Turn left on Glover Road and cross the cement and green bridge. Now you are on Brae Island! About 100 yards after the bridge you will see a small gravel path, turn left and head down towards the public washrooms. To the left of the public washrooms is a gravel trail. That is the start of the island trail. Keep straight on this path all the way to the point. There will be a few trails that lead left or right, I recommend you explore those on your way back after reaching the view. The trail is all gravel and good for walking, running and biking.
