The Boxhagener Platz (aka Boxi) is a place you have to see. Although there is not much going on during the day on most days, be sure to check it out on Saturday! Every Saturday from morning until afternoon there is a beautiful market. You can shop for groceries as well as enjoy the amazing dishes from the foodtrucks. In the summertime it's a nice place to hang out in the evening with a cold beer and just enjoy the berlin culture.

If you ever wanted to know the definition of a "Kiez" be sure to visit the Simon-Dach-Kiez. It's just a 2-minute walk from your place. No matter what you are looking for on any night in Berlin, you most definitely will find it there ;) But especially a good area (if not the best in Berlin) to look for restaurants. You can´t really go wrong with picking a place to eat. Just make sure that the place is a bit more crowded (always a good sign right?). In case you are on a budget or just want a snack, I always go to Döner Dach (it´s a Gemüse Döner). It´s really good and you never have to wait in line (like at Mustafa´s Gemüse Döner).

Sehenswürdigkeiten

Berlin used to be a divided city, on the east-side- gallery you will find the best preserved section of the Berlin wall. Today it is a protected monument that not only is a reminder of the bad days, but also a canvas for local artists. The city of Berlin has a special fund for artists that are allowed to paint the wall. Every few weeks the wall gets repainted, so it is a complete surprise what art awaits you ;)

Ah well, the Brandenburger Gate, one our most known monuments. Although it is very touristic area, I still can recommend going there. At night the Gate is beautifully lit, it amazes me every time. When the wheather is good, I recommend taking a walk through the Tiergarten. It is nearby and our biggest park in Berlin.

In case it is your first time in Berlin and/or you are historically interested, I can recommend you visiting our Reichstag. The "stairway" in the glass dome is fascinating and the view from the terrace on top is also worth the climb.

Amazing place! It is definitely more enjoyable in the warmer months, you could spend a whole day there. It's a former air field and people do kind of whatever they like there. For example: - Just hanging out (bring maybe a blanket) and some beers - Jogging - Cycling - rent a scooter and just drive around - Skateboarding - Have a nice BBQ (there are extra areas with trash bins for coal) - enjoy the view (a couple of kilometers open space) - maybe join a spontaneous rave One round around the whole field is about 6-8 kilometers, just to give a a perspective ;) It's not very commercialized yet. There are a few places whee you can buy ice cream, food and drinks but it is mostly our biggest recreational area in Berlin. There are a couple of restrooms (free and mostly clean) on the field. The field is only open until 10pm, a security team will ask everyone to leave.

I am just going to say it: The Hasenheide is just a tip for party people/ravers. It is a normal park, not pretty and not clean (even for Berlin standards). Obviously a tip for the warmer months of the year, the Hasenheide is a very well known place for spontaneous raves. It is directly next to the Tempelhofer Feld. So as I mentioned, the field closes at 10 pm, that makes the Hasenheide naturally a place to go after. I would recommend going in groups and having a meeting point somewhere. When there is a rave, it is very crowded, loud dirty and dark. You can easily get separated. Somtimes the police has to clear the area, just so you are prepared.

Best Wellness Temple in Berlin! In the colder months, especially when it is really dark and cold outside this is the place to replenish your energy. Highlights: - The wet spas, there are guides infusions every hour - you can choose from a variety of aromas - The is an outdoor area with a cold pool from where you can directly go into a spa to warm up - the suites where you can relax and just chill or read - there is a fireplace - a tanning bed free of charge - massages (extra charge) The entrace fee may seem pricey at first, but it's a fair price for what you get. It is very busy on weekends (you may have to wait 1h in the evening). But once you are in you feel like you could stay the whole day in there. The whole spa area is textile free, you are not allowed to wear bathing outfits. You can bring your own bathrobe or rent one at the entrance.

The RAW-Gelände (terrain/area) is a former train maintenace plant. It still looks very industrial and is (like most places) full of graffities ( I mean art). It´s not too far from your place, you can even walk ;) This area is more like a party area, you have 5 Clubs and 3 bars on the area as well as a couple of street food stands. There is always something going on. - During Christmas time the historical Christmas market takes place - in the summer there are sometimes music festivals - The Haubentaucher Bar even has a pool (outdoor), kind of a beach club even - The Suicide Circus is a more mainstream Club and more known, the other clubs are more part of the local club scene.

Informationen zur Stadt/zum Ort

About a 1h ride with the train, southwest from Berlin, the beautiful city of Potsdam is located. It is known for its film studio the Babelsberger Filmstudios. Many international movies were shot there and the studios are definitely worth a visit. Also highly worth visiting is the Schloss Sanssouci. It was the summe residence of Friedrich des Großen. His life motto and also a personal wish gave it its name. Sanssouci = meaning don´t worry. The motto would really fit Berlin if it didn´t already have the motto "poor and sexy". And as you will see, Potsdam especially in its appearance is really kind of the opposite. You hardly see any graffiti, the buildings are very well maintenaced and you don´t see much of a party culture. A really good day trip to escape the city jungle ;)

Public transport

In Berlin you have four types of public transport: -S-Bahn (green sign) - U-Bahn (blue sign) - Tram (red sign) - Bus (purple) For most trips an AB-Ticket is sufficient. Exception:Airport! You will need to have an ABC Ticket (many tourists get fined just one stop before the airport). When you buy a ticket via the ticket machine, you have to stamp it before entering a U- or S-Bahn to make it valid. In busses and trams you can stamp it inside. In most trams you can buy tickets inside as well, but usually they only accept cash in coins. At the moment (Q1 22) public transport is under 3G use only

If you love fish, check this out!

Berlin is not usually known for it's fish markets. We don't have an ocean nearby, nor do we have fish from our rivers. But still Berlin has one of the best fishmarkets in the region. It' located in Pankow (North) and open Monday to Friday 8 am until 7 pm, Saturday 8am until 2 pm. Adress: Rothenbachstraße 48-50, 13089 Berlin They actually have fresh fish everyday, they directly ship it after catching. A must visit for fish lovers!

Individual transport

If you are into individual transport we have many options to choose from: - Uber (available in just minutes in almost every part of town) - classic taxis (priced a bit over the Uber price, sometimes they speak no english) - Berlkönig (it's basically an XL Uber for up to 7 people, but shared with other people). It's cheaper than Uber, but takes longer. If you are 4 people or more, you hardly safe money taking the public transport. - bike sharing (Uber Jump, Lime, Lidl bike, Next bike) - E-Scooter sharing (Tier, bird, bolt, vio) These are more fun than practical and actually quite expensive
