Upper Rd, Hinton Blewett BS39 5AN. This is one of our very favourite pubs, they do absolutely amazing food in a very gorgeous old fashioned pub. They are a bit further away and you'll need a sat nav but we would definitely recommend.

Our very favourite place to walk to with the dog. You'll find a guide in the cottage on our walk through the woods to the lake. If it's not there then give us a shout and we'll print you another

Just round the corner is the hidden gem that is Burrington Combe, caving, walking, climbing it can all be found at Burrington. Too many different things to list, give us a shout and we can point you in the right direction. We've spent the last thirty odd years caving in and around the combe

Another great circular walk a 15 minute drive from the cottage. If you like history then you will find the Roman hill fort fascinating. If you search around and about the fort you maybe lucky enough to find a nugget of the lead that brought the Romans to the Mendips

Outstanding natural gorge, many, many walks to be had over the top or explore the town. Visit the caves and maybe climb Jacobs Ladder. Cheddar is a favourite motorcycle ride for Charlie

Another one of our favourite places to go for a walk with the dog or take the bikes and cycle to the fort. Mind you the ride up the down is a killer ;-) The views are stunning, the Palmerston Fort at the end of the headland is open to the public and well worth a look. Go at the right time and you can view the Weston air show from the Down. If you are feeling adventurous take your bikes and cycle from Uphill over the gorgeous Brean Down Way through Bleadon Nature Reserve

Brent Knoll has always fascinated me since I was a kid. Whenever we drove past I would say that I wanted to climb it. It only took me nearly half a century to actually do it. The village of Brent Knoll is very lovely and much to my surprise we found that Brent Knoll itself is home to an Iron Age Hill Fort which was inhabited by the marvellously named Dobunni tribe, and nowadays a large number of presumably quite athletic cows. Well worth a visit if only for the views over the Somerset Levels to Glastonbury Tor.

Cycling

One of our favourite cycling routes is the Strawberry line. The completed route is currently from Yatton to Cheddar. It's brilliant for any level of cyclist and takes in the Yatton railway station, Thatcher Cider Orchards, all the way into Cheddar. You can walk or ride. Shute Shelve Tunnel is a favourite part if you are cycling

The Bristol to Bath cycle path is rather wonderful. The best bit however is the Two Tunnels just outside Bath. The impressive Combe Down Tunnel is just over a mile long. Depending where you start and which way you go you can also see the spectacular Tucking Mill Viaduct and the Dundas Aqueduct
