Beaches

Boomerang Beach is the best surfing beach in the Pacific Palms precinct, with rock ledges helping to form great waves. The beach is actually boomerang shaped and is ideal for swimming with protection from prevailing winds at either end. It is balanced at each end with headlands and faces east capturing the best swell from the Pacific and offering brilliant sunrises. The rocky headlands have some great rock pool rambles at low tide. This beach is not patrolled. Dog walking is allowed on Boomerang Beach on leads only, at specific times in the morning and early evening .

Another great beach to let doggo run free until 8:00a.m. each day. Please be mindful that only parts of the beach allow this. Blueys Beach is another famous Pacific Palms surfing beach. It has great surfing and swimming with stunning views across to Seal Rocks. Legend has it the beach gained its name from a misadventure by a local cow. Cows can still be spotted on the southern headland. Boomerang Beach and Elizabeth Beach are nearby alternatives for sheltered and patrolled options for families.

Why not let doggo off lead in the evening? One mile is not only glorious, but the only beach that has an evening session between 5-8p.m. for off lead. One Mile Beach is located in the residential area of Forster and is extremely popular with surfers and families. Patrolled during the holidays and on weekends the beach is bordered by a large park with barbecue, picnic facilities and playground equipment. The northern end is the access to Bennett's Head lookout where 360 degree views of the area can be enjoyed. It also boasts the giant sandhill, popular for sand sliding and boarding. and great photos of the beach from a high vantage point. Plus there's a stretch of white sand where dolphins can regularly be seen surfing the waves in the clear water. Contrary to popular belief, the name One Mile Beach, is derived from its distance from Forster post office, not the length of the beach. This beach is patrolled during the summer holiday season.

2km down the road from the house, this one is walking distance! Seven Mile Beach is a long stretch of remote beach so even in the height of summer you are guaranteed a quiet patch of sand. It backs onto Booti Booti National Park. The beach stretches south from Cape Hawke and Janies Corner at Forster down to Tiona and The Ruins Campground at Pacific Palms. At the northern tip of Seven Mile Beach you'll find a rough dirt track which takes you out to secluded Janies Corner, a good spot for fishing and surfing. At the southern end of Seven Mile Beach you'll also find Bulls Paddock, a right hand point break which on a good day will bring a lot of surfers just to catch it. This beach is not patrolled.

Sightseeing

Made up of an eight kilometre peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and stunning Wallis Lake, Booti Booti National Park was created in 1992 and covers 1,566 hectares of scenic headlands, beautiful beaches, refreshing rainforest, and 11 kilometres of estuarine foreshore right next to Forster. The name comes from “butibuti,” the local Worimi Aboriginal word meaning “plenty of honey.” Plenty is certainly a common theme here – plenty of hiking, swimming, birdwatching, and whale watching in the winter as they migrate along the coast. There are plenty of opportunities to settle down in a picnic spot beneath the paperbarks, and plenty of surfing and mountain biking for the young at heart. The beaches are an enduring favourite, with families and sun-lovers turning weekends into energetic gatherings. Add in terrific driving tours and some truly stunning lookouts like the one at Cape Hawke, and you have a park that appeals across the board. Booti Booti has plenty for everyone.
