The Somerset Coal Canal wends it's way through much of the countryside surrounding the house. If you're in the mood for a country walk, it's a short, but hilly stroll down to the surprising disused locks and canal basin that was in use over 200 yrs ago. It's a fascinating piece of local history and emblematic of the ambition of the Industrial Revolution.

The village that is close by is definitely worth a stroll through. It comes complete with it's own Georgian Manor House, a stunning Old Rectory, watercress beds, a 12th century church and beautiful traditional bath-stone built houses.
