About an hour away from the cabin, these sand dunes are a sight to behold and a must see at any time of year. Late spring and summer during the snow melt creates a thin river that turns the sand dunes into a beach!

Trail Hike
This is a beautiful and challenging hike up to South Crestone Lake. The trailhead starts above the town of Crestone. It's a 9 mile out and back hike with around 3,000 vert gained. Challenging, but one of my favorite hikes in the area.

Starts at the trailhead of South Crestone Lake. It's a little over a 10 mile out and back hike with around 2,800 vert gained. It's a challenging hike, but the lake at the end is worth the effort. This is also the staging ground for several of the 14er's in the area.
