Carmichael Estate sells it's own produce, notably venison, and has a cafe but the best reason to visit is for the walks and to discover the ruins of the estate in its hey day. Find both Carmichael House and East End house in a state of beautiful delapidation with stunning views of hidden valleys and Tinto Hill. There's also a hidden mausoleum, just ask when you arrive for hints on how to find it!

Off the beaten path, Corehouse Estate hosts woodland walks and an alternate way to view the waterfalls, with the ruins and remains of the old estate to stumble upon, as well as the ruin of 16thc Corra Castle.
Drive down the road past the houses until you reach the lodge where you will see parking signs.

The town of Lanark is great to spend a bit of time exploring. As well as the usual local amenities find Lanark Museum, the Tolbooth arts centre, beautiful Castlebank Park and a monumet to The Covenanters (17thc religious dissidents), not to mention cafes and shops!

The little town of Biggar is well worth a visit to enjoy the quaint high street full of shops and cafes, a drive through the stream in the Burn Braes park, the Gasworks and the Puppet Theatre
