夕陽が人気の海岸沿いには、沖縄ならではの飲食店や沖縄県産のジュエリーショップなど、約３０の真っ白な建物がずらりと並んでいて少し地中海のような雰囲気。

看護要員として戦場に動員され、亡くなっていった「ひめゆり学徒隊」の慰霊塔です。ひめゆり平和祈念資料館には、ひめゆり学徒隊の犠牲者の遺品や、多くの犠牲者がでた伊原第三外科壕が実物大で再現されており、ひめゆり学徒隊について学べる場となっています。
