Really a beautiful city with lots to see, the Minster, the Shambles, the riverside, city walls, Jorvik Viking museum. Has nice independent shops. Worth catching the train, or using their Park and Ride.

Great for RHS members, as can be expensive for a family. However, there is a nice walk from the house up through Valley Gardens to Harlow Carr and Birk Crag, were you can get a coffee at Betty's Cafe. (20 mins each way).
