Food Scene

Laid-back, beach-themed, locally-owned burger joint with a separated full bar. The soup selection and Burger-of-the-Month are hard to beat in town. There are two, outdoor dining decks; downstairs in covered and upstairs in uncovered. Upstairs is especially lovely during the evening; over-looking our quiet, small town.

Adorable, locally-owned cafe and bakery that is fairly new to our little town and quite a gem. Pleasant decor and atmosphere. The staff are incredibly genuine and eager to please.

Drinks & Nightlife

Do not pass this place up! These firefighting brew-masters have livened up our quaint downtown incredibly! This once divey and sketchy bar is now a beautiful, bright brewery. The ambiance of exposed duct-work and ornate woodwork is worth the step in the front door alone. That's before you even get to be served the most delicious ever-changing brews from 32 different taps by the best wait staff around!

Of the 18 rotary-style jails built in the US, there are only 3 still preserved. Ours is not only the first ever built but the only one still operational!

You need a good dose of local history? This is the place to go! General Lew Wallace was a well-respected Civil War veteran made most famous by his novel, Ben Hur. This museum is the ultimate historical man-cave that flaunts the bravado of Byzantine, Greek and Romanesque architecture as well as many eclectic features such as the stained glass skylight, limestone frieze, artwork and once fish-stocked moat!

Parks & Nature

Turkey Run State Park is just short drive (20 minutes) to the next county and boasts of stunning scenery and the amazing geology of Indiana's flora and fauna. Trail 3 is my absolute favorite but it's a bit adventurous. It's follows a creek bed that often can be rushing with water between some tighter rock walls. It also has ladders to be climbed to continue through the trail. There are easier, scenic trails as well.
