J.R Tolkien spent many years visiting Stonyhurst College in Hurst Green. He took much inspiration for his books from walks local to the guest house where he stayed visiting his son at the college. A walk in his memory has been created around the village taking in spectacular views of the hills and valley following the river and woodland.

Standing proudly over Clitheroe, the castle built in the 12th century is the second smallest keep in England. Set within 16 acres, the grounds offer a skate park, play areas, bowling green, museum, labyrinth, bandstand and tennis courts.
