Not far is Patch Reef Park a nice little park in Boca for the kids with slides, climbing areas, swings etc. it also has a little water section to keep cool in on those hot days. Not a real big park but worth the trip to let the kid(s) have a little fun while you watch and take pictures.

Wakodahatchee Wetlands - Great place to hike on a boardwalk built over the water and you get to see tons of birds, and maybe even a alligator / crocodile or two. Nice place to take a stroll and view nature. Best of all its free!

If you have a Costco membership this store is close by and I recommend buying your gasoline here. The cost is usually about 20 cents a gallon less here on average than at other stations. It does get very crowded at times so you might have to wait in line but it moves quit quickly. Some good deals in the store as well but crowded so plan accordingly.
