Food scene

Our local restaurant. Typical home cooked, hearty Spanish food cooked on a wood fire. Friendly service, unbelievable views and excellent food. Not a huge amount of choice for veggies or vegans, but the mushrooms, the tomato salad and the potatoes with mojo picon are worth the trip. You must book, and it isn't open all the time. But we can help with all of that.

Creative, delicious, modern tapas. Excellent drink list, friendly, small and locally owned. Again, a little more pricey than your usual tapas in Granada, but worth it.

Fun, friendly and down to earth bar in Albaicín. Caters for veggies, vegans etc and there's a really warm welcome.

About as authentic and traditional as you can get, without a trace of tourist trappings. This is top quality, traditional andalucían food made and served with love and pride. Skip Calle Navas, just go here. Natch, if you vegan/veggie you're not going to have a huge range of choice, but the simple tomato salad alone is worth the trip. With some wine on the side, of course.....

Love your coffee? Whether it's espresso based or 3rd wave filters, cold brews or aeropresses, stop by Dulcimena, stick on a record and enjoy. Local owned, with beans coming regularly from Sevilla. Some snack options are available - but think morning pastry/coffee combo. The coffee is a little more pricey than the local cafes, but... it's also a fair bit better!

Better for lunch than dinner, as you get more for your money. The food is never outstanding, but it is always tasty, hearty and made with care and attention. Friendly, great selection of juices and pretty much essential if you are a vegan visiting Granada. Or a veggie.....

If you are in town and in need of a sit down to take a load of your feet, here is good. It’s been there a long time, food is tasty traditional and good value. Nothing spectacular, but a beer/wine and tapa and you can’t go wrong. Usually have tapa options for a variety of dietary requirements as well.

Escape the crowds

one of our favourite 'alternative' views of Granada. But this is also on the edge of the huge park that is part of Alhambra/Generalife (no entrance tickets required for this section :) )- there are countless amazing walks/bike routes, with views of Sacramonte, Sierra Nevada. We spend a lot of time here with Marlon. Ask us about it for lots more details.

A wonderfully clean, fresh water escape from the summer and autumn heat. There's hardly ever anyone there apart from the odd open water swimmer and hopeful fisherman. It's a 20 minute drive from the house.... but do speak to us before going as this map location isn't 100% accurate. We can lend beach towels and blankets - but it's not really an all day location. Think a couple of swims and an hour of relaxing - great for a morning/evening cool down.

Great walking trails on an edge of the Sierra Nevada. 20 minutes in the car. Ask us if you want to go, as the map location is general.

Of all the old churches and buildings that exist in Granada, this is a real gem. Intricate, ornate and beautiful.

There are so many views in Granada, it's sometimes hard to pick one. This is a bit further to get to on foot (but much easier by car) than San Nicholas, the most well known viewpoint. But San Nicholas can get really busy - San Miguel not so much. And there's just a little more magic somehow.
