The brand new award winning Hastings Pier is a lovely place for a stroll, with beautiful far reaching views along the coastline. Enjoy a drink in the cafe, take a old school picture in the photo booth or go explore the Gallery with local art. Fun fact: you could join a yoga class on the pier too!

The old ruins of the castle on the West Hill have been here since 1066. Hastings Castle was originally a wooden tower built on top of a man made mound or motte, which was surrounded by an outer courtyard or bailey.  The bailey was enclosed by a wooden palisade.  The Norman motte and bailey castle would become a common fixture across England following the conquest. After the victory at the Battle of Hastings, William was crowned on Christmas Day 1066, and had issued orders that Hastings Castle was to be rebuilt in stone. The savage storms of the 13th century brought chaos to Hastings. The harbour was destroyed and large parts of the castle fell into the sea. The destruction of the harbour meant the port of Hastings had no further military importance, the town declined into a fishing village and the castle fell into decay.

The old swimming pools/bathing house of the Victorian times are transformed into a hyper modern BMX/skating park. Even if doing stunts isn't your cup of tea having a look at the architecture and transformation is really worth having a look!

St Clement’s Caves were formed around 14,000 BC, during the last known Ice Age. Since their creation, these mysterious and spooky caves have had a fascinating role to play in the history of the Hastings area. The caves served as a home, a hospital, an air-raid shelter, and a ballroom – of which even the royal family and The Rolling Stones have visited.

A stunning place to visit, start your day in a lovely village called Alfriston, with lovely tea rooms and cosy country pubs. Find your way along the small river all the way to the sea front. this is a stunning walk, or take a canoe/kayak/paddle board and paddle your way there. You'll get to a stunning nature reserver with lots of birds. You could also park your car there, where there is a tea room & visitors centre. See the white cliffs and walk along the Seven Sisters. There is a cosy pub too!

We love this place, it's quite lively with great food! Outside seating on a hot summers day too. "Following the success of The Dragon Bar in Shoreditch which we opened in 1998 we decided to expand and return to Hastings to open another bar in 2005. There is great local produce with the beach just a stones throw away and we pride ourselves on using fresh local produce for our ever changing seasonal menu. This combined with live DJ’s at the weekends and local artwork all combine to create a great place to eat and drink."

Porters is set in the heart of Hastings’ famous Old Town, at the bottom of the High Street and just a few minutes walk from the historic fishing quarter and seafront. Established in 1986, Porters is a Grade 2 listed building which has been recently refurbished and is a very popular family-run bistro. Porters is renowned for its live music and features award-winning Jazz singer Liane Carroll on a regular basis; its excellent home-cooked food (locally sourced where possible) and its wide selection of beers, wines and spirits It's adviced to book in advance! Which we are happy to do if you like :)
