Located in the quaint village of Shushan, NY. Tour the grounds, fly fish if that's your thing (located in the trophy section of the Battenkill River), and wade into the Battenkill. Pro tip- visit Yushak's Supermarket while you're in Shushan for some amazing sausage. Shushan also has a covered bridge and a one room schoolhouse museum!

So much fun! Rent a kayak for $50 for 3 hours, easy paddle on Fish Kill Creak. It's very scenic, we saw blue heron's, turtles, and more! Walk over to the pizza place for dinner after! A 20 minute drive from the schoolhouse.

"The Summer Place to Be" Open seasonally mid July - August, dark on Monday and Tuesday. A fun experience if you've never been to the track before. Get there early if you want to stake out a picnic table, otherwise it's super fun to just wander around!

It does sell out - call in advance to reserve your meal! We love our rural setting and local farm stores but If you are looking to travel a little further from the schoolhouse (about 20 minutes) check out Saratoga Springs. This small city has a great downtown with specialty shops, a variety of restaurants and bars and beautiful architecture. Take a walk down Broadway and visit Congress Park.

We love swiping our cards too but out here some of the smaller places are cash only. We still forget half the time and dive for quarters in our car. It helps to carry a little cash...especially for ice cream!
