THE CASTLE OF HRELJIN -Today’s castle of Hreljin represents remains of a medieval town Hreljin, therefore it is considered Hreljin’s old town.

What to do:
Educational trail - While exploring Bakar hinterland, do not miss visiting the natural phenomenon called Ponikve and explore its amazing diversity following a 15km long walking trail (https://www.tz-bakar.hr/en/recreation/educational-trail)
The walking paths “Towards the Castle” is around 1,600 m long, of easy to medium difficulty for which you will need 20 minutes of light walking in order to reach the finish. The start of the walk is at around 300 m above sea level and the finish within the remains of the Hreljin Castle at around 310 m, whilst the lowest point of the walk is at a height of around 272 m.
THE RISNJAK NATIONAL PARK -The Risnjak National Park is located in Gorski Kotar, on a surface of 6, 350 hectares, and partially in Bakar, too. It was founded in 1953, and it got its name according to a lynx, its most popular inhabitant.
