Take the gondola up to the top of the hill where you will find great views of Rotorua and the Lake. There are cafes and restaurants and a Jelly Bean shop. .... and luge rides. Varying levels of tracks and there are also options for tandeming with the kids on the back or the front.

Native birds, tuatara, trout. Plan a half day and take your time here. There is a nice playground and picnic area. And for those tall enough a water park ride.
