The Appalachian Trail is the most famous hiking trail in America and it is so closeby. Big Bald right on the border between Tennessee and North Carolina. It offers 360-degree views for miles on the Appalachian Trail.

This is a great hike that's easily accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway. A great time to check out the area is in the spring (usually around June) when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. The views from the bald are wonderful.

Tom's Creek Falls is at the end of an easy, level, maintained trail. Multi-tiered and over 60 feet tall, it's a gorgeous wonder of nature.

27 miles (about 45 minute drive) from the Airstream and on the way to Mt. Mitchell, you'll find Setrock Falls. The trail isn't too difficult and the falls are worth the hike.

Snap Dragon is named after the ship that Otway Burns (the namesake of Burnsville) captained during the War of 1812 against the British. It is right on the Burnsville Town Square. It has a cool vibe with indoor/outdoor seating and a full bar famous for custom cocktails.

White Duck Tacos - There are several locations in the area but our favorite is a converted Quonset hut in the Riverside Arts District (right off I-26). It is a little piece of taco heaven. Located right on the banks of the French Broad River, the vibe is funky and the tacos are delicious. Check it out.
