There aren't many coffee shops in Afton, but there is one that you cannot miss if you are looking for a 'gourmet' cup in the early morning or mid-afternoon. Trager Brothers has this cool shop in the Rockfish Valley Community Center. It's primary purpose is to roast beans which means the smells overwhelm you when you walk in. They also happen to sell hot and cold coffee and espresso drinks that will make you come back again the next morning. Don't miss it!

Sure this is a place that is best known for their cider but the thing we love most is the huge open field and stream where kids can run free and entertain themselves for hours while the adults do too!

Even if your kids don't like fruit, it's still hard not to like an activity which involves picking fresh fruit. It's not really hard work but it's so rewarding for the kids. Great entertainment and maybe they will want to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Well, you can of course pick peaches here. But the kids can also be entertained for hours roaming between the trees, playing cornhole, getting peach or vanilla ice cream, and playing with the 'adult jenga' blocks. Adults can enjoy the wines from St Michel or the cider from Bold Rock which are both now on site.

Food scene
Simple, fast, no frills, good barbeque. The chicken platter is HUGE (can feed 2-3) and the pork sandwich makes a great (big) lunch for one. If they have cucumber salad then grab a large side for the group.

Some might consider it a bit of a drive from the house in Afton, but it could be worth it to see what's in neighboring towns. Downtown Crozet is a quaint little town with cute shops and small eateries... the best of which is Crozet Pizza!
