If you have a day spare or are heading South, about 2 hours drive from Airlie and up into the hinterland near Mackay is Eungella and Broken River. Some of the best spots to see platypus in the wild. There are AirBNB's The historic Chalet Hotel and a few other options to stay up.
Being in the hinterland ita cooler than Airlie and wood fires are great for cool winter nights

Scenic waterfall just a 20 minute drive getting Airlie. After rain is great, not to good in the dry season (July to November). And unfortunately after very heavy rain the road good and becomes impassable.
Just ask us and we can advise if a visit is worthwhile.
If you do, cheap mud crabs are available just 5 minutes before the falls. These are definitely worth while!!!

Scenic waterfall just a 20 minute drive getting Airlie. After rain is great, not to good in the dry season (July to November). And unfortunately after very heavy rain the road good and becomes impassable.
Just ask us and we can advise if a visit is worthwhile.
