Museum

A very interesting museum retracing the history of whale hunting through several centuries, and denouncing the massacres performed in the first half of the 20th century. Kids will enjoy the display of arctic animals and the possibility to visit ships. Adults will learn a lot about the evolution of techniques through the centuries and how that led to large scale massacres of the worldwide whale population in the middle of the 20th century. Whale hunting was the main economic activity in Sandefjord and neighbouring city Tønsberg until hunting was stopped by an international moratorium 60 years ago. Open from 10am til 5pm every day.

Matscene

A high quality fishmonger. Maybe Norway's best. Located on the harbour, with direct delivery of their catch by local fishermen. Well worth a visit even if you don't buy.

Very nice restaurant located on the quay, next to the local fishmonger. Delicious seafood. Laid back atmosphere at lunch, slightly more formal at night.
