My Favorite Restaurants

We are very limited with our sit down restaurants on the North Shore due to limited commercial space and the grease trap requirements making few commercial spaces allowed to have restaurants. That is why you will see so many food trucks.
Actually not my favorite, but lots of people love it. It is very close to the cottage, offers fresh baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, plate lunches, salads and more. The layout is awful, you have to wait in line to order while people have to squeeze by you to get into the shop to get their drinks and other items before squeezing back past you to get to the back of the line. Still it is like a right of passage on the North Shore and their malsadas are delicious.

This place is yummy! I highly recommend. Another order at the counter place and coffees are very expensive but they are eco conscious, using real plats if you ask for here and cardboard to go packaging.

If you like waffles you will should go here! I get the strawberry and whipped cream waffles at every special occasion. Other favorites are the breakfast barrel, or the veggie omelet. Family owned and operated for probably 30 years now, (building hasn't seen many improvements in that time). You will see the owner Duncan, his wife or daughter in there every time making coffee, waffles or taking your order. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so check them out early. If you go after 10 am you can stop by the Haleiwa Bottle Shop right next door for great beer and wine selection or to pick up a cool t-shirt with an Iwa bird on it (Hale' iwa means home of the Iwa)

Okay, honestly the food isn't great BUT the margaritas are the best on the North Shore. Also, it is easy to get a table for a large group while other restaurants can take forever and it's kid friendly.

Best food in Haleiwa, only open for lunch and dinner and has a great view of the harbor. If you are patient enough for outside seating it never disappoints but if you are in a hurry you can usually find a table in the bar without waiting. They have a great happy hour from 4-6 Monday- Thursday if you sit in the bar. I suggest getting beer or wine unless you like sweet cocktails then this is your place to try one of their many specialty cocktails. I find the cocktails on the weak side so go ahead, order another, haha. They do NOT take reservations so be prepared to wait 45 minutes for a table if you go around sunset time.

Great rolls, fun atmosphere but not a place to be in a hurry. We love going to Banazi sushi but don't too often because the wait is usually too long. They do not take reservations but they will let you go sign in and they will call you when they have your table so you can go walk around while you wait.

This is the place we go for birthdays, holidays and WCT victories. It is also where we go when we don't want to sit in Haleiwa traffic which get's backed up after every beautiful beach day and can take up to 50 minutes to travel 7 miles. Lei Leis has a fun atmosphere, very friendly staff and the food is great too. Only drawback is it is expensive but definitely worth an occasional splurge. The seafood cobb, the seafood scampi, the grilled ahi, the ribs and the peppered New York are my families favorites.

Pool bar at Turtle Bay is another fun place to get a drink and watch the Sunset. Live music on certain days, and sometimes they even have free fire dance show.

Upscale restaurant with the best martinis around. We will go sit at the bar for date nights sometimes and enjoy a jalapeno infused martini, if you are into martinis you might want to stop by for a sunset.
