In Portsmouth, in the basement of the Federal Cigar store is one of my favorite all-time classic whiskey bars. Really cool atmosphere, excellent and knowledgeable staff, and, it is one of the only places in the state that you can both drink and smoke! (cigars and pipes only)

I can't go too long without good Chinese food. If you need to scratch that itch - this is the best place to do it. I recommend Special #18. Located off of Route 1 about 5 min. from downtown Portsmouth.

Okay, two parts to this recommendation. Federal is a solid cigar/pipe shop with some great guys who run the place, but the hidden treasure is the superb downstairs whiskey bar where you can also enjoy cigars and pipes.
