Artist owned and family operated. This Cafe boasts first, and second floor seating, as well as an outdoor rooftop setting and the cutest little quiet bench seat in a tiny little nook. They offer a selection of vegan brunches, cakes and milk alternatives, and customers can purchase the art and various clay works in use and around the gallery. Perfect setting for writing!

Hot Numbers Coffee has 2 locations, both fabulous and as expected very busy. Another family owned and operated indy, the owner is an absolute stand-up gent - Simon is coffee roaster by day, DJ by night. Also an avid collector of vintage motorcycles and coffee machines which are now on display at his roastery in Stapleford Granary, CB22 5BP. Take a little bike ride out to Haslingfield and you can visit his wife Nilu's cafe - the Moringa Tree. Haslingfield is also an idyllic little english village much smaller than Cambridge with church grounds, and a gift shop. Well worth the visit!

Fitzies began life in 1920 when Ernest and Arthur Mason, returned to Cambridge from the First World War. They were the sons of local baker 'Ticker' Mason, who had a shop further up Trumpington St and they used their demob money to set up a bakery of their own. Thanks to Tim Hayward, she's still up and running, and thankfully, growing! https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2011/nov/11/fitzbillies-tim-hayward-cambridge

So much history! A corner of England where time stands still as the world rushes by. Relax, enjoy the genteel setting and soak up the atmosphere of a bygone era. A lot of local British eccentrics and writers used to frequent here, including Bertrand Russell, Rupert Brooke, Virginia Woolf and many others. Lord Byron’s pool and a lovely walk through the woods is also nearby. Such a treasure!

Actually located here in Newnham on Derby Street. Maison Clement is a brand dreamt up by a Paris-trained master baker whose wish was to serve quality artisinal breads, patisserie and lunch to discerning customers. With an emphasis on ingredient quality, authentic recipes and (most importantly) high baking standards, the brand was devised up to deliver a Parisienne experience in provincial English market towns such as Cambridge. We welcome this latest little addition to the neighbourhood with open arms and empty tea cups!

Just the best community spirit, friendliest team, wonderful coffee made by local roasters. Family owned and loved. Bakery, Cakery and all round happy makery :) Fantabulous for breakfast, brunch, cakes and coffees. Pick up a bag of bird food for £1 and take a wander down the lane to the duck pond by the church. It's a lovely little village with thatched roofs and 2 very good local pubs. Be sure to visit The Linton Kitchens little sister cafe in Cambridge on Chesterton High Str - Barbarella Cafe!

Out of all the bakeries, this is actually my not so secret favourite. They are so humble and hardworking as well :)

Though they have multiple locations, they are still family owned and a Cambridge success story hailing all the way from Sicily! They have all the traditionally made sourdough breads, gelato, and coffee.

They churn and scoop 7 days a week, 361 days a year! Everything is made by hand in small batches and utilising THE best ingredients. It is definitely worth the inevitable queue!

Rent a bicycle and ride just a little way out of city centre on Barton Road. Flock Cafe is located on the same site as Burwash Larder amongst a flower and plant shop, a Persian rug trader, a woollen and yarn shop, and many others. An early morning or afternoon well spent!

We would suggest you rent a bike and ride up to Haslingfield. You can park your bikes just along the churchyard wall, and wander across to enjoy a full brunch, or just cake and coffee. The village itself is lovely.

Walk along the riverside, passed the boathouses and you will find a funny little windblown kiosk with Rory and Jonnie
