It's without a doubt the best bakery I've ever been to. They recently opened another one in the Grossbasel side at Elsässerstrasse / Mühlhauserstrasse. It's fantastic, you have never tasted croissants like these. It's also not cheap but totally worth it.

This is actually an asian super market but during lunch time (11-2pm) they are serving food and let me tell you it's the best asian in town! authentic and the price is unbeatable!
You can either choose between steamed rice or fried noodles and 2 dishes, one with a lot of green vegetables and the other one usually is some kind of curry.
You never know what to expect and it's always a surprise. The quality varies a little bit but that's kind of the fun of this place. I go there every week around 1-3 times for lunch.

As I work in music and I'm an active member of the Nightlife scene I can truly say: If you like clubbing, this place has the best soundsystem you've ever heard in your life. It's unbelievable.

Another really good one is Renée. You never know what to expect but it's usually quite busy and a really nice fusion of Bar culture (their collection of alcohol is ridiculous) and kind of clubbing at the same time.

The Fondation Beyeler is without a doubt one of the best addresses for contemporary art in the world. Forget about New York and MoMa. Basel is the town with one of the richest and best exhibitions and museums worldwide.
Not to mention Art Basel during June...

Kunsthalle is the place to be for contemporary art in Basel. A good plus: While going there you can also hit the world famous "Tinguely Fountain" at Theaterplatz which is located right under the Kunsthalle - especially when temperatures drop below zero.

FREITAG is a swiss brand from Zurich. They started to recycle old truck tarps years ago and they became super popular. It's for sure a great but also not that cheap souvenir if you are looking for something really special!

Even though Switzerland is in a very good place economically a lot of young kids can't find a job after school and the job factory takes them in, trains them and produces different products with the goal to integrate them into the market before they drop out for good. After half a year or a year of training and working the so called "juniors" are conveyed into other companies for their internship.

Entertainment & Activities
During summer our river is getting crazy. Everybody goes for a swim after work or during the whole day. A very nice spot to jump into the water is the Tinguely Museum. From there you can float as long as you want until you reach the last bridge "Voltabrücke" with the glass front. It's a must do experience!
