Witness the vibrant sights and sounds of the centre of town. Grab a falafel or a shawarma sandwich. Have a plate of hummos or a healthy natural orange juice. Top it up with a slice of knafah or a piece of baklawah. It is refreshing after a long walk around the souks and bazaars of the old city.

Everything Else

Half an hour by car, Madaba is best known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, especially a large Byzantine-era mosaic map of the Holy Land. Guests can have some of the best food available in the country at one of several famous restaurants. It is also close to Mount Nebo, mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. The view from the summit provides a panorama of the Holy Land and, to the north, a more limited one of the valley of the River Jordan. The West Bank city of Jericho is usually visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day.
