Stony Point Nature Reserve is home to one of the largest successful breeding colonies of African Penguin in the world.
Located in the quaint coastal town of Betty’s Bay in the Overberg, the Stony Point Nature Reserve is home to a unique colony of African Penguins. Stony Point offers the public the chance to see these wonderful flightless birds up close, via the boardwalk through the colony, which allows the public to observe the penguins go about their daily activities in their natural habitat, without disturbing or disrupting them.
Also present in the colony are three species of cormorant; the Crowned cormorant, Cape cormorant and Bank cormorant, all of which breed on the outer rocks. T

This is such an experience to visit the gardens. Take a picnic basket and spend the day in the tranquil environment of the beautiful trees and waterfalls.

It encompasses mountain slopes with wind-clipped heathlands, deep gorges with relict forests, flats and marshes with restios, sedges and bulbs, as well as dunes adjacent to the beach with specialised salt-adapted plants. The Garden is renowned for its waterfalls and amber pools.
The main fynbos families (proteas, ericas and restios) are present as well as other important families such as irises, daisies and orchids. The Garden boasts red disa (Disa uniflora) in its natural habitat as well as South Africa's national flower, the king protea (Protea cynaroides).

Kleinmond is our place to do our grocery shopping. Here you can also wonder around in the harbour area where there are a lot small little shops.
Kleinmond is the nearest to Bettys Bay. They have a Spar, OK , Pepstores and a few other small shops. Somerset Mall is about 40 minutes drive for the best shopping.

A visit to the lovely 4 km long beach at Betty's Bay is really not optional ... even if its just to go for a long leisurely walk on the soft white sand. It's a wonderful beach for young and old, not overcrowded and a pleasure to spend time at.
Not just a single beach though, Betty’s Bay has a few wonderful beaches. Silver Sands and Hangklip dunes lie to the west of Stony Point offering a beach of over four kilometres and great kite surfing opportunities. The beach is also good for picnics, swimming and surfing however Jock’s Bay and Shelly Beach, closer to the Harold Porter Botanical garden, offer the younger generation better paddling and shell collecting opportunities.

Belgium chocolate lovers can find GaBoLi hand-made Belgium chocolates at the wine village in Hermanus, the Salt of the Earth coffee shop and at Dassiesfontein along the N2.
These delicious chocolates are hand-crafted by Gaspard Bossut from Betty’s Bay who was taught by a world-renown chocolatier who happen to visit Betty’s Bay whilst holidaying in South Africa.
You can sample Gaspard’s mouth-watering cornettos, slabs, pralines and truffles in some of his exotic flavours such as Biltong, Blue cheese and Himalayan salt along with the wide variety of traditional flavours. You can even try the diabetic truffles which come in dark and milk chocolate.

Sand boarding on a boot or on a cardboard box its the same...its lots of fun!
Strap both feet to a single board and soar down one of the best sand boarding dunes in Africa. The highest dune is approximately 200 metres and accommodates for every level of expertise. Beginners can easily slide down the dune sitting on the board until they get their balance to stand up and gain momentum. It's the perfect place to practice for snowboarding, bond with colleagues over a team building experience or simply enjoy the adventure. There are experienced sand boarders that offer daily tours and will be able to instruct and teach to ensure a good time is had by all.
