For wildlife/bird lovers and the geologists, this this outcrop is set in the Penmon Estate, at the exit to the Menai Strait although landing on this privately owned island is not allowed.

Wow, a National Trust property, awesome gardens. REALLY worth a visit, especially in spring with the 180ft Laburnum Arch in flower and the bulbs, rhodedendrons and azalea's.

A castle with classic proportions and perfect symmetry, constructed according to the ingenious ‘walls within walls’ plan.
It was the last of Edward I’s massive building programme in North Wales, as part of his bid to conquer/control the welsh.
However, he never got round to finishing the castle and it was never used in battle.

The mines were last worked in the early part of the 20th century and some areas of the mine have now been reopened for exploration by the public.
Footpaths around the site give you an indication of the size of the operation, the buildings & pits that were excavated, before nature started to reclaim it, once mining ceased
