This is Miami's main history museum, perfect for the museum buffs that want to learn more about how the modern South Florida came to be. It's an impressively expansive history museum, considering that the city is rather a very young one at that.

This is a smaller live venue - and a very historic one. They sometimes have concerts, movie screenings, and shows. Call ahead of time to see what is showing and book a spot - it's really a beautiful historic venue and while it's not as popular as the Arsht Performing Arts Center, if you can get a seat, book it! You won't regret it.

Drinks & Nightlife

Thursday - Saturday, come here for Italian tapas, Italian beer & wines, and live (usually Latin) music at night (8 pm-midnight). Relaxed, true Italian, open-air (sheltered), almost-hipster vibe.

Hipster - can get really crowded late nights as it's open until 8 am (only in Miami is this even possible). Early in the evening, it's smoke-free as it serves light food, but it is another story when the kitchen closes. Great selection of craft beer and wines. Sometimes have live music. Feels like a bar from northeastern US.

This is more known for its strip club/dance club - but locals in the know know about the separate rooftop bar and restaurant. The food is standard, but they have some awesome bands playing on the roof. Last time I visited, I listened to live Brazilian pop/funk music as well as some bossa nova.

For a modern patisserie, this place is really great! The pastries are top-of-the-class. I'd skip the food to eat somewhere else though, considering there's so many restaurants to explore around Miami.

Come here during weekday lunch - they have an AMAZING executive lunch menu that is also affordable. Spanish cuisine - also something that's quite popular in Miami. You may have to Uber for this one, but it's so close by that it will be cheap to get to.

This is my favorite spot for true Italian-style pizzas and even the coffee here is great. But be aware - it's so Italian that in order to get the waiter to come to the table, and even to get your check, you'll have to wave them down (even if they come to the table to check on you, they won't bring out the check until asked). Uber/Wynwood trolley (take the Biscayne trolley first to 15th St to get on the Wynwood one)

They have very basic Italian food here too (very small menu), and all authentically prepared, but really the Italian gelato here is the best I've had in Miami. Consistently smooth, flavorful, and fresh and naturally made - I always find myself coming back (yes, the gelato will be a bit higher-priced than some other ones - but it's worth it if you want the real thing). Easily accessible by trolley.

This restaurant may not be well-loved, but there's a bar here too you can enjoy drinks. I mentioned this place because this spot has the best city view in Miami, especially at night. Makes you feel like you're above a bustling city with their rooftop bar. overlooking both water and Brickell business district.
