Hikes and Parks in Town
Skyline trails are an amazing set of hiking trails in the very center of Rapid City, but you'd never know; you feel like you're out in the Black Hills! To access, go west on St Patrick from Rushmore Road until the road ends at a big gate. Park your car there and head straight out on the trail, which goes up on the east side of dinosaur park, branching out all over. This is a great short hike in case you dont feel like finding one outside town.

One of our favorite hikes. 2 hr loop of medium slopes just off Rockerville.
Nice and easy nature hike; gradual grade, short, fantastic view (the best we think) of the Hills at the end on the rim.
