Sightseeing
This is our favorite place to spend up north in the summer. The water is crystal clear and shallow around the sandbar. This is great for kids. As it gets deeper, the water looks blue and you feel like you are in the caribbean but without the salt. Bring floaties and plenty of sunscreen. The snack bar serves some good food.

South Higgins Lake State Park
106 State Park DrThis is our favorite place to spend up north in the summer. The water is crystal clear and shallow around the sandbar. This is great for kids. As it gets deeper, the water looks blue and you feel like you are in the caribbean but without the salt. Bring floaties and plenty of sunscreen. The snack bar serves some good food.

This beach is within walking distance of our cottage. (Beach pass is in a waterproof lanyard in the kitchen) Sandy beach with shallow water for wading and swimming. Bring floaties and plenty of sunscreen. We love to walk down to this beach after dinner and watch the sunset and then walk down again after dark and look at the stars on a clear night. It feels like you can see the whole Milky Way Galaxy! You might even catch a few shooting stars?

If you are up for a drive, this Island at the tip of the lower peninsula is a must see. Arrive early because you can make a whole day of this excursion. No vehicles on the Island, only bikes and horse drawn buggies. Great food and fudge.

If you enjoy off roading, you can rent vehicles or bring your own. So many miles of trails surrounding St Helen MI. Bring GPS so you dont get lost.
