Flowerpot Island is part of Fathom Five National Marine Park and is famous for the two rock pillars or sea stacks called the "Flowerpots" on its eastern shoreline. The Flowerpots are a type of sea stack, formed over many years as wind, rain, waves, and ice hammered away at the cliff that once stood alongside the water’s edge. The softer rock eroded more quickly, leaving the harder rock remaining in the shape of flowerpots with trees growing on top.
There are 4.3 kilometers of well-marked trails that cover the east side of this 200-hectare Island and limited dockage at Beachy Cove for shallow-draft vessels.

Winter is quiet!
Please be prepared for a quiet stay in the winter season. Many of the restaurants in Tobermory are seasonal. There may be only 1 or 2 restaurants open.
The National Park stays open, and you can enjoy the trails for hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing, but do not expect the trails to be groomed.
You may also be responsible for clearing some snow at your cottage rental.

Be prepared to carry out your garbage
Many of the natural areas on the Bruce Peninsula do not provide garbage disposal. Garbage attracts wildlife, and having disposal units in nature is not a good idea.
Bring a bag to place your garbage into and take it out with you. NO NOT leave garbage anywhere. Do not leave diapers anywhere. Bring them out with you. Please help to keep the beautiful Saugeen Bruce Peninsula beautiful.
Wat je mee moet nemen
Wear proper foot wear and long pants
Its nice to get that selfie of your loved one wearing their clubbing outfit - but in reality - it is not a good idea to wear anything but hiking gear when hiking the trails on the Saugeen Bruce Peninsula. Long pants are recommended as we do have ticks with confirmed lime disease in the area.
Wat je mee moet nemen
Bug Spray
Spring has black flies, summer has mosquitos, and deer/horse flies. And let's not forget TICKS! Bring along some good bug spray and wear long pants to avoid ticks having a good munch on your legs.
