Le Guide ai Quartieri

Oleggio is a quiet town, 15000 people in a small center and big territory. It has a rural tradition; there used to be the biggest cattle market of the area, therefore it was a pretty rich town. There is a big church of course, a nice square and an old IX century church worth visiting. Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb2P41YqjpM

Visite turistiche

The river flows from Lago Maggiore through the territory of Oleggio. it's a great place in hot summer afternoons; you can take walks and see the canals that take water from here and reach as far as Milano. The marble and stones used to build Milan's Duomo were transported from the mountains by the Lake all the way on the river and on the canals.

Nice city on the side of Lago Maggiore. The Lake is beautiful. you can visit its towns (Arona, Stresa) that you can reach by train or bus from Oleggio; or, if you drive, get lost on the mountains overlooking it. You can take a boat and visit its islands, and even reach switzerland from the water! https://www.isoleborromee.it/ https://www.illagomaggiore.com/en_US/home https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/#

Not only lake Como!

People book here thinking it’s close to lake Como. It’s not. And Como is not the only lake! See Arona and Lago Maggiore in this guide, or browse the internet! You will find beautiful pictures about Stresa, the islands and other nice places Lago Maggiore has to offer. Reaching Como from here is not worth it by public transport, and if you drive you should know the city is often packed with tourists that create long lines of traffic…
