The must-do in town is the Koala Hospital. It has koala exhibit enclosures where you will be able to see them. As it is a specialised clinic for the koalas in the area, it also has a treatment clinic, intensive care units and rehabilitation areas where the koalas learn to climb trees again. Due to covid, you will need to book a visit, but it is free of charge.

Bago maze and wines are great for the whole family. The maze is quite large, being one of the largest in the world! It is fun even for adults to get lost in it. Bago also has a handmade chocolate boutique on site. The winery has tasting plates with locally sourced cheese and Bago wine. It is a very lovely afternoon spent at the vineyard.

if you would like to enjoy the rainforest, but stroller access is needed, the Sea Acres rainforest walk is a really great option. It is a 1.3km boardwalk that goes through the rainforest canopy of the National Park. A beautiful restaurant on the Hastings river, a 10 minute drive away. They serve fresh seafood with an emphasis on local produce. The staff are extremely friendly and it is a romantic option overlooking the Hastings river. The whalebone is my personal favourite seafood restaurant in town

It may look like a kebab shop but don’t let the façade put you off. This is arguably the best restaurant in town, it is our all-round favourite in town. With authentic Turkish meals that will leave you wanting more. Try the beetroot dip if you go, its amazing.

It has a trendy atmosphere and friendly staff, with a pretty great selection of beer and cider. If you go here don’t miss out on the sweet potato fries, they are fantastic.

They do some unique flavours and these can change every day, and if you are unsure they will let you taste them before you commit to a whole scoop.

Shelly Beach
My personal favourite beach in town. It is a sheltered beach that you have to drive through the rainforest to get to. With a natural tidal lagoon, a long stretch of white sandy beach surrounded by rainforests it makes for a spectacular location. It also has BBQs so is a great spot for lunch. However, it does not have lifeguards on duty.

It picks up all available swell so it's great for the intermediate surfer and above, with short powerful rides. We would suggest if you just learning to surf, please do not to use this beach. The swell does pick up and there are some strong rips that go through which can create dangerous conditions for beginners.

It picks up all available swell so it's great for the intermediate surfer and above, with short powerful rides. We would suggest if you just learning to surf, please do not to use this beach. The swell does pick up and there are some strong rips that go through which can create dangerous conditions for beginners.

It has good protection from westerly and southerly winds so is a nice option for gentler waves. It also has showers, change rooms and a kiosk to grab snacks or lunch.
Fishing
In the area in front of the home there is good populations of bream. There are also expansive sand flats interspersed with deep channels in this section. This is about 1km to the north. These flats hold good populations of whiting and flathead.
