Go Ape Bedgebury
Bedgebury LaneThis is a fun special treat for all the family and a great way to get to Bodiam Castle with views of the countryside along the way. We've travelled on the railway several times, including at Christmas for the special Santa Express, complete with a visit from the big man himself, and also for more a grown-up trip on the Cider Train (not for the faint-hearted!). Worth checking the timetable and booking in advance.

Take the chance for a leisurely trip along the River Rother by hiring either a kayak, rowing boat or paddle board. It's all fairly gentle going, so suitable for families, with the reward of a treat from their cafe at the end. There are also some swimming spots although we haven't had the chance to do this yet. Definitely wear something you don't mind getting wet and a change of clothes in any case!

An excellent rainy day choice for families, children love tackling the huge range of climbing walls all with brightly coloured blocks and challenges to clamber over. There are also some more tricky walls for adults if they want to get involved but is also fine to watch from the sidelines as children are safely locked into harnesses and there are lots of staff watching.

Barker RoadAn intimate spot for the chance to take in a movie, often showing one of the latest films as well as independent or arthouse offerings. A well-stocked cafe / bar also makes this a relaxed experience - definitely not a multiplex.

Our home is surrounded by pots and sculptures created here, a testament to how much fun it is for families. A good rainy-day option although worth remembering all creations need to be fired and then collected.
