Aira Force lies on land owned by the National Trust. The Trust purchased the 750-acre Gowbarrow Park (on which the force lies) in 1906 and has provided facilities, such as car parking, disabled access, graded paths, and viewing platforms to make Aira Force one of the most famous and most visited waterfalls in the Lake District. The National Trust has also provided public lavatories and a cafe.

Sedbergh is about a 20 – 30 minute walk (through the golf course car park) or a 5 minute drive and is a small county town which includes a Post Office, pharmacy, banks, plenty of lovely cafes, an excellent butchers shop, a superb greengrocer/delicatessen, second-hand bookshops and the late-opening Spar (open 7a.m – 10p.m every day).
There is a small market in Sedbergh every Wednesday.
