Sightseeing
This is an easy place to get to with no hiking. The panel is one of the most impressive petroglyphs that I’ve ever seen! It is approximately 15 miles from Huntington. Although it is almost entirely on dirt roads, the dirt roads are well groomed and we make this trip at least once a year in our car.

In my opinion, this is one of the most overlooked spots of the San Rafael Swell. It is approximately 15 miles from Huntington on well groomed dirt roads. It is nicknamed “The Little Grand Canyon” because of its similarity to The Grand Canyon. It has a pretty steep drop off at the viewing area so keep little ones close.

The Wedge
In my opinion, this is one of the most overlooked spots of the San Rafael Swell. It is approximately 15 miles from Huntington on well groomed dirt roads. This is a beautiful scenic drive that starts in Huntington. In 15 miles you climb to approximately 10,000 feet! There are three beautiful reservoirs on top with easy access for fishing. You will likely see some deer and maybe some elk on the drive to the top of the mountain.

Water sports
Great spot for water skiing and boating. There is also a really nice swimmers beach for relaxing. The park also rents kayaks and paddle boards. There is a really fun trail around the lake for walking/running that is almost 3 miles long. Although I have had little success, people are constantly fishing for trout, wipers, and blue gill. I’ve heard that the most success is along the dam.

Huntington State Park
865 Mohrland RdGreat spot for water skiing and boating. There is also a really nice swimmers beach for relaxing. The park also rents kayaks and paddle boards. There is a really fun trail around the lake for walking/running that is almost 3 miles long. Although I have had little success, people are constantly fishing for trout, wipers, and blue gill. I’ve heard that the most success is along the dam.
This is a really popular spot for fishing. People with boats try to catch Tiger Muskie which can be freakishly large! It is also a really popular ice fishing spot.

Food scene
This is a really good family owned restaurant. It is located in a small sectioned off area of a green house. My favorite item is the chicken salad. It is fresh and huge!

This is a really good pizza place is Castle Dale. Whenever my family comes to town, we order a GIANT pizza that feeds up to 20 people! It’s so big that you have to turn it sideways to get through the door.

This is a really good “all American” grill in Castle Dale which is 10 miles from Huntington. Their burgers are really popular, but I wouldn’t know because I always order their amazing calzones!
