Bring your bikes as we have an amazing bike path that goes straight from our edge of town all the way along the forest edge to the Pacific Rim Visitor Center at the Junction of Hwy 4. Cycling in Ucluelet is family friendly on a dedicated bike path. For the more advanced athletic cyclist, the ride from Ucluelet to Tofino is amazing. This is a serious bike ride. It is just over 42km (85km round trip) and leads out of town on Peninsula Rd to the main Junction and then along to Highway 4 towards Tofino. You will pass along the edge of the forest and then through the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The bike ride along the Highway is permitted, but please be sure to use caution if biking on the shoulder of this road to Tofino. Advanced cyclists only. Please note that cycling is not allowed on the Wild Pacific Trail nor on any of the walking trails in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, but if you wait until low tide you can joyfully cruise the hard-packed sands of Long Beach. For the mountain biking enthusiasts, there is an extensive web of backcountry trails around Ucluelet that will be an excellent adventure for you. You can purchase a Vancouver Island Back Roads Map book from many of the local retailers for more info on where these trails are located. Please be mindful and prepared for potential wildlife encounters as we do share our environment. There is also a BMX trail park on Matterson Drive, next to the Community Center in Ucluelet, for those who are so inclined to take their bikes for a bit more of a wild ride. You can rent bikes from: https://www.ukeebikes.ca Surfing..... Yewww Some favorite surf breaks are at Wick Beach and Florencia Bay, but really all the beaches here are great! For gear rental in Ukee and lessons we recommend 'Relic' and in Tofino 'Surf Sister'. For more in on whats happening in Ucluelet when you're here go to www.ucluelet.ca and click 'festivals & events'.
