South Pelion
The municipality of South Pelion is a municipality of the Thessaly region with an area of 369,36 sq. Km. and a population of 10,216 people based on the 2011 census (11,563 residents according to the 2001 census). The seat of the municipality is Argalasti. Historical location: Trikeri.
It was established with the Kallikratis Program. It resulted from the merging of the pre-existing municipalities of Afetai, Argalasti, Milies and the Trikeri community.
A green sea descends gently on the curving slopes of the mountain, gently embracing the arrogant blue of the Pagasitic Gulf and the foamy beaches of the Aegean Sea. Silver olive groves, centuries-old plane trees, all kinds of citrus fruit loaded with fruit, hundreds of healing herbs and enormous blossoms of camellias, gardens and hydrangeas create a unique setting. The settlement has 3 fish taverns and a mini market, which operates during the summer months.
This seaside village, Horto, is located on the Southern part of Pelion on the Pagasitikos Gulf. The distance from Volos is 46km, the beaches from the Aegean side are about 20km away and the distance between Horto and the Central Village of the area (Argalasti) is only 6km.
The route, which will access you to this village, is very easy. You go towards Argalasti through beautiful and endless areas of olive trees with rich vegetation, a well-known factor of Southern Pelion.
