Completed in November 2016, Seabreeze is a 3 bedroom semi detached house. Everything inside from carpets to cutlery was brand new and has been kept at a high standard since. Westward Ho! has many family friendly amenities, stunning beach and is ideally located to explore the wonders of North Devon. For families there is a wealth of local attractions to keep everyone happy or if you're escaping from hustle and bustle there are beautiful beaches, coves, coastal walks or our delightful moors.
I've tried to think of everything you would need to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as it can be. The good sized kitchen has direct access onto the enclosed back garden. It has all the modern luxuries you would expect in a brand new house including electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and washing machine. The comfortable and cosy lounge has two sofa's and an arm chair, electric fireplace, TV and blue ray player. To complete the downstairs is a cloakroom. The first floor has 3 bedrooms, bedroom 1 is ensuite and has a king size bed, dressing table, triple wardrobe, bedside tables with lamps and TV. The ensuite has a toilet, wash basin, shaver point and large shower. Bedroom 2 has a double bed, double wardrobe with hanging space and shelves and two bedside tables with lamps. Bedroom 3 has one single bed a double wardrobe with hanging space and shelves and one bedside table with lamp. The main family bathroom has a toilet, wash basin, full size bath with a shower. Also provided is an iron, ironing board, airer, hair dryer and free wifi. The rear enclosed garden is a good size and is accessible from the kitchen. Two free parking spaces are provided to the rear of the property, just a short walk from the front door. Please note that we are unable to accommodate any more than 2 vehicles and at all times during your stay the parking bays must be used as there is strictly no parking to the front of the house or the nearby street.
The house is located in a quiet residential area, less than a mile from the amenities of Westward Ho and the famous sandy beach and pebble ridge. The Royal North Devon Golf Club is only a short 5 minute drive from the property. There are many places to enjoy good food from fish and chips in the village to fine dining at Moran's, both highly recommended. Or why not visit The Pier House for a Sunday carvery, the view is nothing short of breath taking. Although the house is situated in Westward Ho you have the market town of Bideford within a 5 minute drive where you can find two supermarkets, pannier market, art gallery and park or alternatively why not venture over to the quaint fishing village of Appledore, where you can spend a lazy afternoon exploring the quiet streets, restaurants, cafe's and taste the famous Hocking's ice cream. Fresh fish is often available straight from the trawler from the quayside. The bigger town of Barnstaple is approximately 15 minutes away by car and has an array of high street retail shops along with local independent shops. For families you are only 5 minutes from The Big Sheep which is a brilliant day out and 20 minutes from The Milky Way. In addition there is a small children's play area just a short walk from the house. All in all a great central location.

Margaret is een aardige gastheer en zo gastvrij. De 'cream tea' bij aankomst was een welkom gezicht na een lange rit en genoten door iedereen.

  • We hadden een fantastische tijd bij Seabreeze, het huis was perfect voor wat we nodig hadden, een echt thuis van huis! Geweldige locatie met lopen naar het strand in 10 minuten langs Fosketh Hill, we hadden 2 wandelwagens en het was steil op weg naar boven maar helemaal geen moeite om naar beneden en terug te gaan. We hadden een fantastische avond in het Pier House voor het diner en drankjes met een heerlijke sfeer en een prachtig uitzicht. Geweldige uitvalsbasis voor het verkennen van Noord-Devon, we bezochten Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Clovelly en Bude, fantastisch deel van het land. Hosting en communicatie van Margaret was eerste klasse en prachtige kleine details zoals cream tea bij aankomst maakten ons verblijf echt speciaal. Sterk aanbevolen!

    2 light and airy double rooms within our family home, tea and coffee making facilities, chilled water and welcome cake. Situated in the village, easy walking distance to beach & SW coast path . Main room kingsize bed,ensuite shower room, sea view & direct access to a large sea facing balcony. 2nd room has twin single beds and a family washroom. Both rooms are for a single family/group booking. Linen, towels, basic toiletries and driveway parking for ONE car are provided. NO CLEANING FEE ADDED
    The beautiful view and close proximity to the beach is what makes Wavelyn House's suite of rooms so special. From the main bedroom you can look out and see the coastal villages of Croyde, Saunton and up the estuary to Appledore over looking the Northam burrows national park. The second double room has twin single beds. Although an ensuite shower room is shared between both rooms for additional privacy and ease the twin room has use of the family washroom located next to the bedroom. There is room to store sports equipment and dry wetsuits outside. The South West coast path is within easy walking distance with direct access to the local cliff walks which continue down into Cornwall. Popular local wedding venue Ocean Kave is a 0.7 miles walk away or a 3 minute drive from Wavelyn House. Our friendly dog Skyler lives at the property but has no access to first floor guest accommodation.
    Our location is right on the coast of beautiful north Devon with its rugged cliffs, open green fields and national parkland. Westward Ho! had 3 miles of golden sands and rock pools to explore it also leads onto the SW coastal path. The beach is considered a safe location to surf perfect to begin or progress your skills, there is a designated kite surfing area of the beach with a local shop to book lessons and hire equipment. For those looking for a more challenging surf break world renown Croyde is a short drive away along the coast. Westward Ho! Gives easy access to exploring the North Devon and North Cornwall area with the national country parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby. The village of westward Ho! has a wide choice of eateries from Thai, Chinese and Moroccan alongside traditional pubs,restaurants and of course fish and chips, there is even an oyster shack in warmer months. A couple of local theme parks for families are within 1/2 hour drive along with the larger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple. Exeter the capital city of Devon is an hours train journey away with the traditional fishing village of Appledore a direct 45 minute walk across Northam burrows country park or a 10 minute drive away. Keen cyclists will find the Devon hills a challenge or the more sedate Tarka trail cycle path is safe and flat for families and a those looking for a less energetic bike ride.

    We have a 3 Bedroom house in Bideford, North Devon. Less than 10 minutes drive from Westward Ho! Beach. There is a Children's adventure park, The Big Sheep, very near along with an Ultimate Adventure park, supermarkets, shopping centre and just off the main road from the A39 to Cornwall. 15 minutes away from the town centre of Barnstaple and walking distance to the high street of Bideford. Lots of lovely coastal, woodland and moorland walks nearby. Under one hour from Dartmoor and Exmoor.
    Double Room Available along with a drive for car parking. The front door leads onto the stairs up to the double room and you would have the bathroom to yourselves as well. Hot tub and kitchen facilities also available. Please let us know if you would like to use the hot tub as we don’t always have it heated up.
    We live in a quiet and friendly neighbourhood and it is a new estate. Our house is three years old. We have a good relationship with our neighbours.

Gaze at the amazing sea views, and only 1 minute stroll from the beach, 5 min walk from the shops/restaurants, North Devon golf course, and the South West Coast path. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 gardens, 3 balconies, a separate snug (or 5th bedroom), large hot tub & games room with ping pong Spacious, perfect for families & groups of friends, total luxury!
    The house is furnished and fitted to an exceptionally high standard. The space is created to be homely, contemporary, and ideal for large families or groups of friends to enjoy beautiful North Devon. Set it a very quiet area of Westward Ho the house is peaceful, with many outdoor areas to enjoy peace and quiet on your own or with loved ones. 2 of the 5 bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and all rooms are exceptionally well furnished, some with tea and coffee making facilities and all with ample fresh towels. There is also a large hot tub for even more relaxing and unwinding!
    THE house is situated in a cul de sac, with residents on each side but the house is detached and very private. The area the house is in is brand new, with landscaping being completed to a high standard and access to the house is very easy. The beach is a short safe walk on a pavement, and past a beach café serving hot drinks and pizzas. The town of Westward Ho is small but very attractive. It has a green with sea views, places to eat and drink, entertainment for the kids, and of course the 3km long beach. (dogs welcome all year round on the beach, some restrictions on which part of the beach exist in summer months) The South West Coast Path, and Royal North Devon golf course are both 5 minute walk away

    A beautiful coastal house within 200m of Westward Ho! beach and 2 minutes walk into the popular coastal village of Westward Ho!. It boasts private access onto Northam Burrows Country Park with uninterrupted views. The house sleeps up to 6 adults and 2 children in 4 bedrooms, 2 with en suites, a family bathroom, a large modern kitchen-diner extension with bi-fold doors onto the patio, TV room with wood burner and conservatory. There is a wrap around, enclosed garden with sunken trampoline.
    The house offers two newly refurbished en suite bedrooms upstairs with ample built in storage. Downstairs there are two further bedrooms comprising of a twin/double and a smaller children's room with bunk beds. There is also an underfloor heated family bathroom with heated towel rail and bath. The living spaces are all decorated to a high standard. The new extension comprises of an underfloor heated kitchen, utility and dining room which leads via large folding doors onto an extensive patio over-looking the garden with rattan outdoor table and chairs. The garden opens out onto the Northam Burrows Country Park (SSSI) via a private gate just 200m from the golden sanded Westward Ho! beach. The TV room has a functioning wood burner with comfortable sofas, and a good selection of books on the shelves. There is a large conservatory with comfy seating and TV which opens out onto the back garden with further seating areas and sunken trampoline. There is private lane access to the property with parking for 2 cars within the private driveway and another 2 cars safely off road directly outside the property.
    The house is adjoining the Northam Burrows Country Park, which as a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) boasts a range of habitats including sand dunes, salt marshes, grassland and rocky shore. Westward Ho! beach is over two miles of golden sand that has the prestigious Blue Flag award for facilities and water quality. It is well known as one of Britain's leading kite surfing beaches with excellent surf as well. The property is situated 30m from a wonderful wood fired fresh pizza café, and surf school offering surfboard hire, wet suit hire and surf/SUP lessons. There are nearby horse riding stables providing lessons for all abilities as well as beach rides and trekking over Northam Burrows. The Royal North Devon Golf Club on the doorstep of the property offers the opportunity to play the oldest Links course in England. In Westward Ho! village there are many cafes, restaurants and pubs including the excellent 'Morans' specialising in Thai food and a new vibrant pub called 'The Pig on the Beach'. 'Tea on the Green' serves fantastic freshly made cakes/snacks served alongside a great coffee or hot chocolate. Westward Ho! also offers a great selection in fresh fish and chips. Converted in 2016, this barn features a solid oak super king bed in the master bedroom, all new solid oak furniture, leather sofas, LED lighting and underfloor heating. The barn is dog friendly, and you are welcome to bring them at £25 for the first dog and £15 per dog for each additional dog.

    Welcome to my home on the stunning North Devon coast, where you have a light and airy space that is clean, warm and restful. After breakfast (toast/croissants/cereal), you may want to go surfing, kayaking, cycling, walking (S.West Coast Path/Tarka Trail is 5 mins away). There's plenty to do and explore in this beautiful part of Devon. Please note that a small, friendly dog also lives at the property. Couples and females only.
    You will have access to your bedroom, use of the bathroom (shared with hosts), and the dining area for breakfast. Breakfast is served between 7.30-9.00am. This is a non-smoking home. Parking is on the residential street outside the house (free) - we never have a problem finding a space.
    Bideford is known as The Little White Town and the house is situated over an ancient bridge that crosses the River Torridge. It is on a quiet residential street, just metres away from the Tarka Trail for cycling/walking/running and has views to the river. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the breathtaking renowned surfing beaches and South West Coast Path are just minutes away by car. There are a number of great cafes and pubs nearby that I can recommend to you.

  • Als je op zoek bent naar een plek om te verblijven in Biddeford, moet je hier zijn. Geweldige gastheer die niet genoeg voor je kan doen. Veel waar voor je geld. Geweldig ontbijt Andrea is heel goed op de hoogte van wat er in de omgeving gebeurt en gaat als dat niet zeker is een stap verder om het voor je te ontdekken. Je voelt je altijd welkom.   • Andrea, is een geweldige gastheer die dat wat een moeilijk familiebezoek bleek te zijn, net dat beetje beter maakte. Het ontbijt was een geweldige onverwachte bonus en ook heerlijk. Het is duidelijk een echte, zeer intelligente dame die ons een zeer welkom gevoel gaf.   • We verbleven een nacht met Andrea en wat een genot was het. We waren op een lokale bruiloft en de locatie was ideaal, vooral toen Andrea advies aanbood over welk taxibedrijf te gebruiken op basis van de eindtijd van de receptie, want Bideford staat er blijkbaar bekend om om middernacht te stoppen! De faciliteiten waren perfect, misschien wel het meest comfortabele bed waarin ik heb verbleven, behalve de mijne. Douche was warm en krachtig, en Andrea was erg behulpzaam voor ons om afhaalpizza samen met een andere lokale aanbeveling te krijgen. De pannenkoeken waren de kers op de taart - ze kwamen uit de oven zodra we materialiseerden en waren goddelijk! Het was ook heerlijk om met Andrea te praten en ze had een schat aan lokale kennis. We komen terug!

  • We verbleven in Andrea's plaats voor 2 nachten. Communicatie met haar voorafgaand aan aankomst was altijd snel en behulpzaam. Ze liet ons zeer welkom voelen bij aankomst en we voelden ons meteen thuis. Het is duidelijk dat Andrea het leuk vindt om mensen te ontvangen en haar uiterste best doet om ervoor te zorgen dat ze een goed verblijf hebben.     With your own entrance hall, the space is entirely private. With a shower room off the hallway, a door leads through to a kitchenette, leading upstairs to an enormous light, airy attic room, with a double bed and a single day bed. The room is perfect for a couple, 2 friends or a couple with one child. Linen, towels, basic toiletries and on street parking is provided. Outside table and chairs. Situated in the village of Northam, it is a short drive to the beach and close to the SW coast path .
    The attic room and kitchenette have terrific ocean views. Either to check the surf out or to watch the sunset, you just cannot beat these panaramic views! As it is an attic room it does have height restrictions. In the kitchenette there is a toaster, kettle, fridge, complimentary tea and coffee, chilled water and a table and chairs to sit, eat breakfast at and admire the views . There is a table and chairs at the front of the property to sit out at and look at the views, whilst having a morning coffee or evening drink. The outstanding views and close proximity to the beach is what makes the room so special. You can look out and see the coastal villages of Croyde, Saunton and up the estuary to Appledore, over looking the Northam burrows national park. There is room to store sports equipment and dry your wetsuits safely outside. The South West coast path is close by, with direct access to the local cliff walks which continue down into Cornwall. Our friendly dog, Ruby, lives at the property but has no access to the guest accommodation.
    The house is located in a quiet residential area in Northam, a mile from the amenities of Westward Ho! and the famous sandy beach and pebble ridge. With its’ 3 miles of golden sands and rock pools to explore, the village also leads onto the SW coastal path. Westward Ho! has a safe lifeguarded beach where you can swim and surf , with surf being excellent for both beginners or more advanced surfers. With a few surf schools in the village, there are places to rent boards or book lessons. Likewise, there are the same facilities for kite surfers. For those looking for a more challenging surf break, the world renown village of Croyde is a short drive away, along the coast. The Royal North Devon Golf Club is only a short 3 minute drive from the property. There are many places to enjoy good food in Westward Ho! from fish and chips, afternoon tea at 'Tea on the Green', to fine Thai dining at Moran's, all highly recommended. There are many pubs to have a Sunday carvery - ‘Pig on the Beach’, ‘The Waterfront’, with a great children’s play area and ‘The Pier House’, where the view is nothing short of breath taking. The market town of Bideford is within a 5 minute drive, where you can find two supermarkets, Pannier market, art gallery and a great children’s park or alternatively, why not venture over to the quaint fishing village of Appledore, where you can spend a lazy afternoon exploring the quiet streets, restaurants, cafes and taste the famous Hocking's ice cream. Nearby Instow is also worth a visit, with its' superb restaurants. For outlet shopping, Affinity Devon Outlet shopping, is just a few minutes’ drive away. The bigger town of Barnstaple is approximately 15 minutes away by car and has an array of high street retail shops, along with local independent shops. For families, you are only 5 minutes from The Big Sheep, which is a brilliant day out and 20 minutes from The Milky Way. Exeter, the capital city of Devon, is an hours train journey from Barnstaple. For cyclists Devon has many a hill! For a more leisurely bike ride try the Tarka trail cycle path, safe and flat for families and for those looking for a less energetic bike ride. Due to the house’s location your own transport is recommended.

Local village pub half a mile away. There are steps up to the property.
    A large bedroom with King Size bed, TV and en-suite shower room. Double doors lead from the bedroom to the living area where there is a sofa bed advsilable on request (£10 per night extra). A travel cot is available on request. Breakfasts facilities available include kettle, toaster and fridge. A welcome pack is provided on arrival.
    Lovely woodland walks to the Tarka Trail from the house, where there are walks/bike rides throughout North Devon. The village pub The Cyder Presse is a short walk away. Sandy beaches of Westward Ho! & Instow are within 9 miles RHS Rosemoor is a short drive away and National Parks are easily accessed by car.

De gastheren waren buitengewoon vriendelijk en attent van begin tot einde, waardoor het inchecken zo eenvoudig was, ons eten bracht voor het ontbijt en ervoor zorgde dat we alles hadden voor een geweldig verblijf. Ze deden zelfs hun best om wat speelgoed te lenen voor onze jonge meisjes om mee te spelen en dit alles zorgde voor een heerlijk verblijf!

  • Late boeking was geen probleem voor de gastheer. Mandy en Rob waren zeer gastvrije en oprecht lieve mensen. Mandy heeft ons alles uitgelegd als dat nodig was. Plaats was brandschoon, zulke mooie details zien als er geen keuken was. Decor was mooi en zo'n rustige en vredige vakantie. We zullen zeker weer boeken! Heel erg bedankt xx

    MONKLEIGH COACHMANS COTTAGE OVERVIEW COACHMANS is a delightful self catering cottage situated through an archway in a cobbled courtyard in the grounds of Monkleigh village's old rectory, parts of which date back over 400 years. Although called COACHMANS COTTAGE it is in fact believed to have been the original bakehouse for the main house and the original bread oven is still in situ to the side of the wood burning stove. Coachman's can be found in a very peaceful situation on the edge of Monkleigh village and within easy walking distance of the friendly village inn, The Bell, which also serves great food. The house has extensive gardens of approximately 3 acres, plus a large wildlife garden with a large pond, an ideal spot to chill out and commune with nature. These are available to those occupying the cottage to enjoy. Garden furniture and a small charcoal barbeque are provided. Please note that these grounds are extensive and unfenced so children and pets will need supervision. This cottage is in a stunning rural location and forms part of the traditional cobbled courtyard setting of original buildings to the main house. It is compact and has a wood burner making it a cosy, romantic hideaway spot for two. Off road parking is available directly in front of the cottage. LIVING AREAS Within the level open plan social space the wood burning stove is a focal point, and provides ample cosy heat whatever time of year you visit, additional wood is provided free of charge and can be found across the courtyard. KITCHEN / DINING The cosy combined lounge/kitchen/dining room has exposed beams giving a rustic feel. The dining table and chairs seat two and on request a high chair can be supplied. A useful under stair cupboard contains such items including a vacuum cleaner, ironing board and brooms etc. The kitchen area has a modern built in electric cooker and hob, microwave oven and a very good selection of kitchen equipment. There is a freezer along with a washing machine and additional sink facilities in an adjacent building, the former dairy. The natural wood floor and coverings add to the period feel and give a wonderful feeling of intimacy. A built in wardrobe ensures guests have ample storage space. The size of the room allows space for a travel cot. BATHROOMS Adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom with a full size bath with hand held shower attachment. The wood effect laminate floor creates a feeling of warmth. For added convenience, a heated towel rail and electric shaver point have been provided. The pond is an eye catching feature, however, it is unfenced so careful supervision of younger ones is required.     I live here with my husband Jim and dog Stella . We have 4 children with the last one having recently left home. We enjoy being close to the countryside, beaches and the towns as we enjoy the outdoor life so spend our free day’s cycling , running and dog walking as well as bodyboarding ( Westward Ho! Croyde, Saunton). There are plenty of wonderful places to visit and explore. Our house is a chalet bungalow that has been completely refurbished inside giving it a light, airy and cosy interior.
    The bedroom is bright and spacious with a wardrobe and hangers. The en-suite is neatly hidden away. There is tea/coffee and biscuits in your room as well as a mini fridge. There is access to the kitchen upon request. There is separate lounge beside the bedroom which you are welcome to share/use. It has a large sofa as well as Sky tv and dogs a are welcome to join you too. There are table and chairs outside in the garden for your use.
    We live in a quiet neighbourhood with friendly neighbours. We are positioned off the main road in a small cul-de-sac, set back in the corner. You can walk/cycle down the road ( a minute walk away) along a farm track which takes you onto the Tarka trail. Turn left and you can walk/cycle along the track or around the outskirts along by the estuary towards Instow/ Bideford ( lovely pubs/ restaurant). Turn right and you can go to Fremington Quay ( great coffee shop) and Barnstaple. On a good day there are spectacular views across to Braunton and Saunton Sands.

  • We hadden een aangenaam verblijf in Mandy en Roy's. Geweldige communicatie en duidelijke aanwijzingen, plus een warm welkom. De accommodatie is net zoals beschreven, zeer schoon en gezellig. Het ontbijt bepalingen en toiletartikelen waren zeer welkom. Leuke lokale pub met vriendelijk personeel en de lokale bevolking. Goed eten geserveerd (niet elke dag zo de moeite waard om te controleren) Het gebied is prachtig, mooie kustlijn en kleine dorpjes om te bezoeken. Goed aanbevolen.

    I have a comfortable, fairly spacious double bedroom, with a tv and tea/coffee making facilities.My home is situated in a no through road with on street parking most of the time! You can park on the main road after 6pm until 8am the next morning, and there is a car park within walking distance.I do have two cats, Misty and Monty, and one friendly dog, Maisy. I charge £30 per night for one guest, £25 per night for additional guest.
    The advantage of my home is that it is only two minutes from the town centre of Bideford and the Quay, from where buses run to our two local beaches - Westward Ho! and Instow. Boat trips to Lundy Island depart from the Quay.The Tarka Trail, which is an old train line is ideal to walk along to reach Instow.
    Ideal for day trips to Lundy island, walking/biking on the Tarka Trail and a couple miles from the infamous Westward Ho! Pebble ridged beach. Heartland and picturesque Clovelly are 20/30 minutes away.

    This Apartment is situated next to the Northam Country Park. A SSSI An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, also The Royal North Devon Golf Course. Amazing for long walks with or without your dog. At the end of the Country Park 10minutes walk from the apartment, is The Westward Ho! Beach, 3 miles of glorious golden sandy Beach. A safe sea to swim and surf in. The apartment is situated on Follyfoot Equestrian Centre. This does not mean you have to like horses. Our guests range from, couples celebrating anniversaries, families wanting a fun packed beach holiday, single people wanted to get a way from the bustle of Town life, or people wanting a Riding holiday, we offer facilities to bring own horses on holiday. We have ample parking outside and welcome dogs, ( deposit required)
    As I have explained above about the Northam Country Park, and Westward Ho! Beach. We are also 5minutes drive to Westward Ho! Village, there you find gorgeous shops and very good restaurants and cafes. 5mins in the opposite direction is Appledore, a quaint old fishing village, with beautiful shops, some good Pubs, Restaurants and coffee shops. 5 minutes is the old Market Town of Bideford, there are numerous large supermarkets, and good Restaurants and Coffee shops and Cafes. We are on the main bus route to all these places.

    APPLEDORE ESCAPE COTTAGE OVERVIEW Located on Irsha Street this delightful fisherman's cottage is in a sought after location in Appledore and has been refurbished and furnished to a high standard. It is just a short walk to the lifeboat station and wonderful views of the sea and across the estuary. Walk a little further in the opposite direction and you will find restaurants, inns, galleries, shops and quayside. From the quay there are scenic boat trips, fishing for bass or mackerel and a pedestrian ferry to Instow's sandy beach. Bideford is only 3 miles and the spectacular beach of Westward Ho! is just a short car journey away. ESCAPE COTTAGE has 2 bedrooms, sleeping 4 people. This is the ideal holiday home for a romantic seaside getaway or just a relaxing holiday. LIVING AREAS The open plan lounge seats 4 people comfortably. There is a TV (with Freeview), a DVD player and a portable radio/CD player. Board games, books and a selection of DVDs are provided for your entertainment. Central heating for warmth and A good sized dining table with 4 chairs completes the social and dining facilities.     A stylish and tranquil home that offers fabulous views and a warm welcome, as well as a 5 minute walk to the Tarka Trail and Instow Beach
    This recently renovated home, in the delightful north Devon coastal village of Instow, showcases the lovely views across the estuary to Appledore and Bideford. With a background in Interior Design, the host has created an individually stylish yet comfortable space and many people who have stayed here say that it has a true sense of peace and tranquility. An ideal place to take a break from a busy life. The guest bedroom and sole-use bathroom next door, are on the first floor with the host's bedroom/bathroom being completely separate on the floor above. The room has a king size bed and seating area with sea views. Julie is happy to share her open plan living and dining space with guests. The living room has bifold doors across the width of the house making the most of the view and access to the terrace with table and chairs. There is a lower patio with lounger chairs and a small garden to relax in and enjoy the view. A cooked breakfast is included using local produce where possible. Julie has a love a love of cooking and most dietary requirements can be accommodated - just let Julie know any special needs or preferences. Hot drinks are always available in the tea making area of the kitchen. Pricing I prefer not to use seasonal pricing but to keep my price more or less consistent throughout the year. I feel this is fairer. I also feel that the price is a fair reflection of the room, environment, breakfast prepared and the standard of personal service given. I do hope you will come and enjoy. Things to note Having lived in Japan for over 10 years, Julie has adopted their no-shoes tradition in her house and hopes you will be happy to do this too. Slippers are available but you may like to bring your own. The host has a friendly Cairn terrier dog Parking nearby to property There are a few steps down to the property and the bedroom is on the first floor. Bikes can be stored under a roofed area at the side of the house with locked side gate or in a locked garage nearby. I am happy to have children to stay but I do not have any specific equipment such as cots/highchair etc. An older child would be welcome to share the bed with an adult or I have a separate listing with another bedroom available.
    Instow village has several excellent pubs and restaurants, perfect for a stroll along the beach and a drink or meal overlooking the sea as the sun goes down. The pub/restaurants in Instow are The Quay, The Instow Arms and The Boathouse. There is also the excellent restaurant Instow Barton open Thursday to Saturday and it is essential to book this. The multi award winning Johns deli and cafe on Marine Parade is ideal for sampling delicious local produce. The quaint fishing village of Appledore is just across the water with great restaurants, pubs and music venues and my favourite coffee house The Coffee Cabin. The pedestrian ferry sails between Instow and Appledore during April-October. Otherwise it is just a 10-15 minute drive away. The Tarka Trail runs along the bottom of the garden and offers over 40 miles of walking/cycling track along the disused railway with towns, villages, beautiful countryside and coastal views to enjoy. Other local attractions include RHS Rosemoor Garden, Tapeley Park, Hartland Abbey (the cottage was used in BBC's Sense and Sensibility and The Night Manager), Clovelly with its steep cobbled streets, Devon cottages and fishing harbour and the surfers town of Westward Ho! A short trip north up the coast takes you to Barnstaple, Saunton Sands, Croyde, Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Lynton and Lynmouth and Exmoor National Park.

    Tarka Cottage is approx. a 200 yr old property and is situated in East-the-Water with views of the river. It is a short walk over the old bridge to the town of Bideford which offers a variety of restaurants,pubs and shops.The cottage is located close to the Tarka Trail which is perfect for walking and cycling.Nearby are the sandy beaches of Instow and Westward Ho! (perfect for surfing!) Other local attractions RHS Garden Rosemoor,Clovelly,the Milky Way and The Big Sheep all within a short drive.
    GROUND FLOOR: Lounge - cosy room, with sofas, a television and a dining table with x6 chairs. Kitchen - oven, washing machine and fridge. Please note there is NO freezer. Bathroom - over bath shower, basin and wc Single bedroom with chest of drawers FIRST FLOOR: Double bedroom (king size bed) and lovely views to the river. Double bedroom and views of the River Torridge Single bedroom with views of the River Torridge OUTSIDE At the rear of the cottage is a small private courtyard. For people cycling, bikes can be stored safely in the courtyard but will not be under cover.
    The cottage is situated on Barnstaple Street. Therefore there is traffic close by.

Rachel was een geweldige gastheer, gaf ons duidelijke communicatie voor het instappen en liet ons een zeer verwelkomende fles wijn, verse bloemen en melk in de koelkast achter.   • Dit is een mooi, schoon en goed ingericht huis op een geweldige locatie. Er waren zes van ons, allemaal volwassenen en we waren goed verzorgd in het huis. Het is heel gemakkelijk om over de brug naar het mooie stadje te lopen, gemakkelijk een auto te parkeren in parkeergarage tegenover, geweldige busverbinding (waargenomen frequentie van bussen) en zoveel mogelijkheden voor bezoeken aan nabijgelegen locaties, we hadden niet genoeg tijd!

    Mid terrace house on no-through road.
    My home is cosy and comfortable. Sometimes my daughter will be here too. The cats have free range and could be anywhere,especially good at finding a sunny or warm place to sleep. I keep them out of your room! There are tea and coffee making things in your room, so you can have a drink at anytime. You are welcome to make snacks etc in the kitchen and there is an empty shelf in the fridge should you need to keep anything chilled. I will leave a tray of “ help yourself” breakfast in the kitchen. Bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt etc. Our milk and other dairy products are delivered, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, directly from a farm about 25 miles away.
    I’ve lived here about 25 years. I viewed the house on a sunny day in September and loved the big open sky, close proximity to village, fields and beach, sense of quiet but not isolated. There’s so much going on in Appledore. Great places to eat, various independent shops, library, clubs and groups,school,carnival, book festival, activities on and around the river and estuary. Something for every age group and interest.

    Dear Traveler(s), our detached house is located in a beautiful part of North Devon in Bideford with many nice beaches and walks, pubs and restaurants nearby. Also with easy access to public transportation. A grocery store is just around the corner. The Tarka Trail is in a short walk. Instow with nice restaurants is in 2 miles. Torrington is located in the opposite direction with a nice railway station transformed small restaurant called Puffing Billy. The house is a newly built property.
    Nice and cosy detached house in the middle of a quiet estate with 4 bedrooms. Modern and new furnitures are used to decorate the family home. Reasonably big and well maintained back garden with a newly constructed conservatory and patio. The listed double bedroom is well equipped and nicely decorated. It is located on the first floor. The door is equipped with a privacy lock. A king size bed with a removable magnetic top layer including massage surface (not recommended for people with pacemaker and for pregnant women), improving sleep quality and giving you a relaxing rest. If you prefer not to have the magnetic top layer with massage surface then we would remove it at your rest. The room also have a wide screen plasma television with a free view box should you want to catch up with news or watch a movie from the convenience of your king size bed.
    The estate where the house is located is safe and friendly. Car parking place is available in front of the house in the road should guests require it. Easy access to Tarka Trail if you like a nice walk next to the Estuary or to cycle to Instow with a sandy beach and excellent choice of restaurants. A very nice traditional English bar, bistro and restaurant called The Riverbank is in 15 minutes walking distance situated next to the Estuary. Should you want to enjoy a drink and a meal in a pub, we also have a recommendation for you. That would be the Westleigh Inn. This nice pub is in 6 minutes driving distance.
  • Bereid je voor op je gemak en ontspannen bij Julia thuis. Mijn partner en ik verbleef twee nachten en Julia begroette ons met warmte en rust die echode gedurende onze tijd daar. Het bed is zeer comfortabel en alles wat je nodig hebt, waterkoker, ontbijt en wat snacks zijn aan je zijde als je ze wilt. Julia's huis is absoluut vlekkeloos, met heerlijk beddengoed, handdoeken en een eigen badkamer! Julia's plaats is heel gemakkelijk te bereiken, een wandeling van 10-15 minuten naar Bideford en met geweldige routes door heel Devon. Julia gaf ons enkele geweldige tips voor plaatsen om te bezoeken, een wandeling bij Wolacombe en een bezoek aan Croyde - beide echt mooie plaatsen en we zouden ze sterk aanbevelen. Julia's man was rond toen we op onze laatste dag vertrokken die echt heerlijk afscheid te nemen was, hij was ook een erg warm en liet ons zeer welkom voelen. We zullen zeker terugkomen de volgende keer dat we Devon bezoeken! Bedankt Julia!

  • Julia en Balazs zijn geweldige gastheren. Ik kon het niet vragen om bij vriendelijker of behulpzamer mensen te verblijven. Van het tonen van de ruimte tot het geven van advies over waar te eten, niets voelde als teveel moeite voor hen. Julia is zo'n warme en gastvrije persoon die heel gemakkelijk is om mee te praten. Ik bezocht Bideford voor een run en dus was een goede nachtrust belangrijk voor mij. Het bed is zo comfortabel dat ik niet wilde opstaan. Ik zou zeker weer hier verblijven in de toekomst en zou niet aarzelen om het aan te bevelen aan anderen.

    Badgers’ Holt is a spacious, tastefully decorated and very comfortable family home with secure garden, offering outstanding views of the estuary and beyond. The property boasts its own dedicated parking space, a shared, second parking space and ample on-street parking. Fully equipped home including dishwasher and washer-dryer. Only a five minute walk into Appledore village with its wonderful cafes, boutique shops and restaurants. Up to 3 (well behaved!) dogs are welcome at no extra charge.
    Three-bedroom house arranged over three floors. The top floor has one single bedroom, a double bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with bath and shower. The middle floor has the kitchen-diner-living room with juliet balcony offering wonderful views of the estuary. On the ground floor is the master suite with king-size bed, dressing area and en-suite with bath and shower. There is also access to the rear patio and shingle garden from both the hallway and the mater bedroom.
    The small village of Appledore sits where the Taw and Torridge rivers meet. It has a lively community with a collection of coffee shops, pubs and excellent restaurants. Live music can be found most nights and there is a thriving arts-scene. The village hosts many events throughout the year such as the regatta, the carnival and the book fair. In the summer months a ferry takes passengers to the pretty village of Instow on the opposite side of the estuary. Fish and chips are available from two shops in the village and can be eaten on the quay, along with a famous Hocking’s ice cream! Walkers and cyclists are well-catered for as the Tarka Trail passes close by. Dog owners are spoilt for choice with the many dog-friendly beaches such as Instow close by. There is also the Northam burrows and access to the coastal path within walking distance. The area is hugely popular with families as the beaches of Westwood Ho!, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Bude all close by.
