“An amazing experience awaits visitors at Akrotiri village. Akrotiri Excavation is the most famous, the most important and well preserved prehistoric settlement of the Aegean after it was buried under the volcanic ash of one of the greatest volcanic eruptions in history that hit the island in the 17th century BC. ”

History Museum
“The Museum of Prehistoric Thira houses finds from the excavations at Akrotiri. The exhibition is structured in four units, referring to the history of research at Thira, the geology of Thira, the island's history from the Late Neolithic to the Late Cycladic I period (early 17th century BC) and the heyday of the city at Akrotiri (mature Late Cycladic 1 period, 17th century BC).”

Museum
“The Archaeological Museum of Thera lies in the center of Fira, the capital of Santorini. A significant part of the exhibits comes from the excavations carried out on Mesa Vouno Mountain where a settlement of the Hellenistic Period was discovered. The majority of them was found in the cemetery of Ancient Thera and includes ceramic objects, pots, amphorae as well as ancient statues, like the representative nude male statue called kouros. The rest of the finds can be admired in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. It is recommended that visitors visit both the archaeological site of Ancient Thera and then the Archaeological Museum in order to gain an understanding on the history and evolution of the island.”

“Imerovigli is mostly famous for its beautiful sunset, that it is called "balcony to the Aegean". Its houses are built amphitheatrically around the caldera and it is crossed by narrow, paved paths. Famous site of Imerovigli is Skaros, which are the remains of a Venetian Castle built in 1207.”

“Katharos Lounge Vegan Meze Restaurant is situated just outside of Oia (on the road to Amoudi bay), this hidden gem is nestled away on the cliff side in solitude, with the most fantastic views of the sunset. A beautiful location with yummy vegan recipes for either lunch of dinner, stopping by for lunch is great but even better I recommend making a reservation for sunset! It has a very relaxing and chilled vibe, and plays great tunes to add to the mood. The staff is absolutely wonderful too! The food is vegan Meze style (Greek tapas), don’t miss the Strawberry salad and the Phyllo rolls filled with sweet potato, caramelised onion, spinach and vegan cheese, simply amazing! Don’t miss their tasty and unique cocktails too or try the famous unfiltered hoppy beer from a local brewery ‘Yellow Donkey’, ‘Red Donkey’, or ‘Crazy Donkey’. If you visit for lunch, definitely head down to the beach located just below for a swim and some sunbathing! ”

“Krinaki is set in a converted 19th-century winery at Finikia, a small farming hamlet near Oia. Krinaki has used the fruits of traditional agriculture like wild greens in salads, capers buds and leaves, coquettes in pies, white aubergines, hand-crushed fava, cherry tomatoes, tomato paste, sun-dried tomatoes, barley rusks baked in a wood-burning oven, and wines from select Assyrtiko, Mavrotragano, Athiri, Mandilaria, and Aidani varietals that have grown on Santorini since antiquity. The restaurant’s philosophy is to highlight simple flavors and transform them into powerful dishes. The emphasis is on quality and each diner poses a separate challenge whose comments are welcome. ”
